No they don't.

Actually they do according to the CFP formula

Both have significantly harder SOS than TCU

I'm not saying the CFP didn't rank their SOS higher, but I can't find where they show SOS rankings online. Do you know where to find that? I do know that Sagarin says TCUs schedule was tougher.

While this may be true, you know the CFP will put tOSU in over TCU. One is a blue-blood, one is not. It is dumb, but it is reality.

Wouid all hell broke loose? Or would they just stick Ohio State and Alabama in the playoff?

Seems the latter is what would happen

Laughable. I can show you others that support what I stated.

Any SoS ranking that has 7 of the top 10 as Big 12 teams is a total and complete joke, they would have to play NFL teams in non-conference to be that high...

Additionally I'm pretty sure the reason the Big 12 teams have high SOS rankings is because they play all 9 conference opponents plus 1 or more P5 opponents. Texas played Alabama, Tech played at NC State, WVU played at Pitt and at VT.

In those noncon games the Big 12 went:
2-0 vs P12
1-1 vs SEC
3-1 vs ACC
2-0 vs B10
0-1 vs BYU (I'm counting as P5, but you don't have to)
That's 8-3 collectively. I don't like TCU, I don't want to have to recruit against them with a CFP berth on their side, and I'm not big on conference pride, but I can't make a logical argument for keeping them out of the playoffs.

I respectively disagree.
Complaining about things has always been the same.

We now have message boards to voice our opinions. 30 years ago we didnt hear the opinions of everyone in the world on every topic. Now we do.

your premise is okay but taken way too far. When it goes to 12 we're done, theres no complain. and the idea that the 127th would complain is silly, but I guess that was your intent

I think considering how many conferences there are a 6 or 8 tram playoff makes the most sense...as is said sure #7 or #9 will complain.

However realistically, there is typically such a drop off after #6 that there really is no excuse. Most of the teams that wind up ranked there muffed it at some point in a major way and so it is less about the committee amd more about what your team failed to do.

#5 not always so much as a&man experienced once before.

Sometimes the way conferences work just screws a good team from getting into their championship game at #5.

#7 and #9 I have yet to see that be the case.

I was told by stat guys that predict the committees rankings with extreme accuracy, per the Hancock rules stated back when CFP started, SOS is a combination of Win% of opponents and Win% of opponents opponents, If I recall it is 75% / 25% split. There are some caveats for wins/losses against FCS. I think wins don't help but losses hurt.

These stat guys feel it has been tweaked over the years but is NOT what any major outlet puts out there every week.

They also have hinted that it is used more to sort teams that are similar in other categories (wins, losses, top 25 wins, quality wins, bad losses and game control)

This has been how the playoff committee has worked in the past:

1. Count losses (add 2 or more to any G5 team).
2. Conference champ over non-champ
3. Conference representation
4. Brand name & conference over lesser brand.

Based on that, Georgia, Michigan, TCU and USC are in if they all win.
Even if they all lose, Georgia and Michigan are in. So would TCU. Ohio State replace USC.

If TCU loses and USC wins, I still think TCU is in as the #4.

(This assumes no blowout losses in CCG)

If TCU loses close, they may stay in. If they lose by 2+ TD's. the committee will replace them with tOSU. Bank on that.

If TCU loses in any fashion they will be left out. We've been down this road before.

I am more in this camp as well. IMHO committee has demonstrated multiple times in the past they give massive preference to "blue blood" schools.

Regardless of what happens, TCU will have beat everyone on their schedule. That can't be ignored.

tOSU got absolutely blown out in the their only opportunity to show they belong…and it was at home.

Frankly, Bama and Tenn have better resumes than tOSU

remove the subjective rankings altogether.
force every team into 8 super conferences
