Everyone wants immediate success. Sometimes patience is rewarded. Look at Harbaugh v Ohio. State. People wanted him gone in a big way, and today he paid off.
Harbaugh took a pay cut, and has guaranteed annual comp less than half of what Jimbo makes. Even with the massive incentives in his deal, he still can't get to Jimbo's level of guaranteed comp. (And let's not forget that Jimbo has incentives as well]

The big difference, I guess, is that Michigan is THE dream job for Harbaugh. A&M is just a paycheck for Jimbo.
I completely disagree. Have you noticed how much more haggard Jimbo looks this year? You can tell this season has weighed on him personally. If he was just getting a paycheck, he'd have much nicer hair and slimmer waistline.

23-18 in SEC (.561)

Probably the most telling statistic.

My thoughts exactly. I am tired of this "fire the coach" who you were head over heels in love with at the beginning of the season.

Makes me wonder how some of you manage your personal relationships.

Same ****ty offensive scheme we ran all year. 12 completions. When you can run for 6 YPC over 42 rush attempts, you're gonna win.

Lots of people with short term memory loss. Look at the games that have been lost. The record is written down for everyone to see.

Congrats for the victory over lsu. But the season was very bad.

I love the "I don't accept mediocrity" Ags, most of who have very mediocre careers.

To offer the other side of that argument, maybe he looks and feels like **** because he has a guilty conscience about mailing it in all year.

Not saying he has mailed it in. Just an alternative reason for why he looks like hell.

Sumlin's worst season without Johnny was 7-5 in 2017

this is a strange thing.

the Ags have by & large played LSU and Alabama very tough during Jimbo's tenure (except for the 2019 game in Baton Rouge). Posted 4 wins vs. LSU and Bama. Much better than Sumlin.

but the Ags have had tough times and no-showed games against Ole Miss, State, and Arkansas plus South Carolina this year. Very frustrating

1 good win in a 5-7 season and he comes out defiant with the "told ya so" attitude.

Dude you fielded one of the worst offenses in all of college football, and the worst A&M has fielded since Fran was running the option here.

With regard to building a program and the future, the way those games are won and lost matters more than the final record.

you're not wrong- you're also not making the point you think you are.

What's the point differential on losses this year? What was the point differential on losses in Sumlins last few years?

Report back when Jimbo gives up a 40 something point lead (yea yea, first he's gotta score 40).

That said, I hope he gives up play calling.

OK. We won a big game over a rival that already clinched a spot in the SEC title game. And if jumbo had played Connor at the beginning of the season we may more wins and gone to a decent bowl. We will be 8-4 next year with a loss to a cellar dwellar and one to a SEC elite team. Jumbo has us by the throat no matter what. $$$$$$$$$$$$

The people who are level headed and think critically were never head over heels in love with him and for the past 3 years have been noting the obvious red flags.

This is like an average relationship that you have a feeling is going nowhere and then the chick goes off the rails crazy.

You were never in love with her, but willing to stick it out because of loyalty. Then she becomes clingy, naggy, gains 50 pounds and stops taking care of herself so you start looking for the exit.

we are good at saying wait till next year.
it's meaningful.
many sick players, many first year players.
plays running left or right instead of forward.

Problem is, I've been saying it since 1969..... and it HAS NEVER HAPPENED !

Make all the excuses you want..... then compare them to all of Saban's/Alabama's excuses...... you still want to hang on to the saying "wait 'till next year" as being "meaningful" ???

and for the obligatory Sumlin comparisons...

Sumlin's overall record after 5 years ---> 44-21

Sumlin's record after 60 games ---> 43-17

(obviously the COVID season skews the comparison)

Jimbos teams are undefeated against LSU at Kyle Field (3-0)
Sumlin's teams were undefeated against Arkansas, South Carolina, and all Group of 5 teams.

We lost to Bama by 22 in 2018, 19 in 2019, and 28 in 2020. 2021 is the first year Jimbo played Bama closer than 3 scores. Sumlin played Bama closer than 3 scores in 3/6 games, so it's still close in that regard.

To be fair to Sumlin, he had to go against Les Miles at LSU. Jimbo went up against Ed Oaf-eron. What's frustrating about Jimbo is that the 2020 and 2021 LSU teams were by far the worst 2 LSU teams we have faced since joining the SEC, and he still managed to lose to lame duck Oaf-eron in 2021 (losing to Auburn this year make it 2 years in a row of losing to a team without a permanent head coach).

I will give him credit that this year's win over LSU was the most impressive so far.

This game by itself isn't going to change anything. His job is safe because his buyout is over $80M.

One year-end upset over a rival in a bad season isn't going save anyone's job all by itself. Fran beat Texas in his last game.

Fran also told the team before the game he was resigning.

I believe he honestly thought that King would get it done. Conner wasn't ready day one and anyone that thinks this is just plain wrong. He had Max as a backup plan if King failed, which he did. Max did a good job but wasn't his long term answer, Conner is. You don't throw a kid out there with no college experience with a really bad offensive line and expect to win. I really think he was wanting to redshirt Conner but the season went sideways. It will be Conner next year with Max as his backup. If Max leaves he has to sit out a year which would more than likely hurt him. I think King leaves but who knows. I do think A&M finishes at 9-3 next season at worst.

this is the crazy thing.

Weigman finished his freshman season with 8 TD passes and ZERO interceptions in 132 attempts over 5 games.

for comparison King threw 6 picks this year
And Johnson had 71 attempts, 3TD's and no interceptions.

If Weigman was not the starter in week 1, Johnson should have been and Weigman #2.

I think the sane folks knew going into this season knew we would have a lot more talent, but maybe a worse record than 2021 because the team was all so young and lost a lot off the OL and defense (and Elko). I though we were grossly overrated at #6 to start the season.

App State and Auburn (and really SC too) should have been wins putting us at 7-5 instead of 5-7. Yeah, people would still be upset but the realists would understand how and why we only won 7 games.

by the way...Army crushed UMass 44-7 over the weekend.

and UMass finished 1-11.

it's hard to give Jimbo and his staff credit for much of anything this season
