Who do we hire? Just an honest question. We all know the buyout is keeping him here. But if even if it wasn't, who is the next coach?

I can't name a single person that would excite me. How everything has played out over the last five years will give me major reservations for anyone who comes in.

There's really only 2 ways the administration can go with this, right?
1. Make a change now.
2. Make a statement that you gave Jimbo 10 years, because you believed it takes 10 years to build a winning program.

Anything less , and you sabotage the ability to hire a good OC, recruit, etc., because you are one more bad season away from unemployment.

Did Brian Kelly excite you last year? Sonny Dykes? Josh Heupel two years ago?

I think our collective desperation for "excitement" is contributing to our issue. It's why we continue to overpay, and are seemingly never the school that a coach "breaks out" at.

Obviously unexciting hires fail to work out frequently. But at this point, I fully support us trying something a little unorthodox (Deion, Traylor, etc.). What do we have to lose?

Stop the insanity of hiring retreads

If I were to hire, I would hire a young genius maniacal coach from where ever in the mold of billy Gillespie who would work on A&M football 24/7 until he reached NC game or is dead from exhaustion.

I would hire Traylor. This is going to be a complete rebuild. Get a coach on the rise with a reasonable contract that's going to minimize the pressure to win immediately.

Kevin Sumlin. Proven ability to win 8 games per year. Can score 44 points in an embarrassing loss. Has swagcopter to impress gullible recruits. And very available.

"Excite" may have been the wrong expression.

My point is Jimbo was supposed to be the sure-fire, can't miss, home run hit. Five years later there is little to no hope of redemption.

So what should our hiring philosophy be? I have no idea what the answer is. It just feels like there will be a lot of pain ahead no matter what direction we take.

A reasonable incentive driven as opposed to a guaranteed contract .

Kiffin would never come here. Freeze would never be hired and would probably just be another Jimbo flop if he was. Easy to look like a genius at Liberty (and lose to UCONN while doing it).

Hugh Freeze is my #1. He built Ole Miss and has built Liberty. He obviously knows what it takes to win in the SEC. He is also a great recruiter.

Second is Jeff Taylor. He is having a second great year there and is showing he knows how to build a program without a ton of resources.

Luke Fickel would be awesome but he seema pretty locked in at Cincy. But if there is a chance then go after him. He has built that program and has sustained it.

Lane Kiffin is not a good option. Yes he is winning, but he is a proven pathological liar and hypocrite at every place he's been. We should have learned our lesson by now about hiring people from Ole Miss.
