It appears that coach has pretty much given up and is just mailing it in.

I was at A&M for 3 years of Hank Foldberg . This is no better. The only differences are the expectations and the expense.

It's English for "thanks for the tens of millions to do a subpar job but we will see if we can execute better next year, but if not, thanks in advance for the tens of millions"

Give him a break. It's dinner time. We all don't think straight if the belly is empty. Give him an hour at The Waffle House and he'll be ready to take on a small country.

It's clear he's at a loss for what's happening. I think we all are. Jimbo didn't magically forget how to coach. These guys didn't magically forget how to play. Slumps are very real, often unexplainable and very difficult to get out of. Almost like a belief barrier issue. Hopefully Weigman can jump start us down the stretch but idk. This whole season is incredibly odd.

If you weren't listening live, you missed the worst part when he mentioned trying to "get into a bowl."

I just felt sad.

I get that...but he is still the head ball coach of one of the worst football teams I've ever seen take the field. And I was in the stands for every home game during the Fran Era.

And he has way more talent than Fran could ever dream of.

This isn't bad luck....

Although if I told you I would pay your salary for the next decade no matter what, how hard would you really be trying to keep it in the first place?

It's almost human nature to try and do so poorly you get fired. So you get to go home to your ranch and retired instead of heading to the bright complex at 4am every morning in the fall for another 5 years.

Not all of us are "at a loss". We lost our two best coaches from last year's staff and replaced them with scrubs. It's quite easy to understand.

Coaching matters. Duh.

I'm kinda starting to miss the Fran era.

Darnell, fresh out of selling insurance, might be a better coach than Durkin.

There is enough talent on this team to accidentally beat App St and USC. Our close games against Bama and Ole Miss prove that. This is a mental issue, not just a coaching change. Anyone who has played organized sports realizes you don't just start sucking this hard because of a new coordinator.

We've had a lot of bad moments we're responsible for, but man... anything that CAN go wrong, HAS gone wrong. Just an all-around train wreck of a season.

IMO this season is a direct result of two things that fall entirely on Jimbo. First, picking the wrong starting QB. With the exception of the Bama game, King has been a poor executor of the offense. His turnovers, poor throws and decisions are baffling. Max should have been the starter at the beginning of the season.
Second, as HC/play caller you need to adapt your offense to your players skills and hide your weaknesses. Instead, Jimbo keeps trying to force a square peg into a round hole and it's resulted in WR getting no separation, plays that take too long to develop with a porous line, and generally puts too much pressure on the QB which King obviously can't handle. Max and Connor each gave us a glimmer of hope, Jimbo obviously picked the wrong guy for the most important position on the field and that's why this season falls on him.

The obvious follow up should be "well coach, your solution is to play hard and practice hard...and you've already been doing it, as you said so....if that's the solution, why are you 3-6?"

I would guess that in today's college football world, talented players are less inspired by their team, their coach and the school they play for than in the past. They don't care about anything except money. The system and the times do not bode well for Aggie football.
