Last year I watched Max get knocked on his butt multiple times, but he just kept getting up to deliver that last pass to outscore us. The kid has street cred!!

He also threw for an average of 330 yards against them and 5 TDs. Oh, and like 3 of those INTs were tipped, but who's counting?

Max is average 10/20 passing for right around 145 a game. That kinda speaks to what Typer was saying. Haynes was higher risk, higher reward. Max is lower risk, lower reward. When the defense and special teams can score and hold the opponent to 9 or 21 points, that's great. Let's hope they continue to do so.

Except the reward with Mad Max has been higher so far with 2 top 15 W's…

Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat. The defense and especially the run game are much improved in the last 2 weeks thanks to the return of an All American center.

In terms of QB play, Max is, as we said, playing not to lose. The defense held Miami to 9 points. And held Arkansas to 21 (scoring 7 of their own). If they can keep playing like that, and the running game can keep grinding it out, Max playing it safe is just fine.

So many if's and but's. Who cares. We're rolling with Max now. It's time for him to keep stacking wins however he and the team can.
I love Foster, but his snaps against Arky were piss-poor - obviously that's only part of the equation (pre-snap reads, blocking, etc), but he did not do Max any favors getting plays rolling. Regardless of who's at center, it's clear Max provides a more complete package at QB.

agree he didn't have a great game snapping. Max also mishandled a few. But if you want to see piss poor, go run the App St tape back.

My biggest issue with Jimbo's offense to start the year was he kept running RPO's with a wildly consistent center that constantly ****ed up the mesh point with his snaps. Then you had OL that couldn't block on top of it.

He should have done straight runs and straight passes with no RPO.nonsense that was botching 80% of the plays.

If I was Hayne's mom, I'd say he's gotten a really rotten run of luck.

Was looking OK and getting into a groove last year when he was injured. This year, he took the heat breaking in a new line, which is getting better just in time for Max to come in and look like the better QB… when he may or may not be.

I can't wait to see the TexAgs meltdown if Max is the starter going into 2023, because he's most likely not done here after this year.

It's incredible. I think we have some of the best fans in the country, but our fanbase can be so toxic at times. Consistently starting threads to bash a qb who has done nothing but give his best for our team and we continuously trash him for a variety of reasons. Don't believe that? Go reread this thread.

How is " the key difference between max and haynes..." bashing Haynes? It was a legitimate statement and not started to bash Haynes.

ZERO turnovers the last two games.

max also seems to have a much better feel for dealing with pressure (which is coming with this o-line so far.)

last night's game was probably a blow-out loss with haynes at qb.

He just plays calmer. In the face of pressure, he's stepping in and still looking down field. And I don't care what his 40 times are, he runs with much more feel than Haynes (who always looks awkward).

Haynes reminds me of Robert Griffin, in that he looks so... FRAGILE.

Foster being sick isn't why Haynes repeatedly made bad throws into double or triple coverage for picks.

I'm surprised after 2 wins there are still people trying to argue Haynes is better.

But if you want to nitpick and blame Hayne's struggles on another player, I can do that too-

Max didn't have Evan Stewart and Chris Marshall to throw to against Miami.

Haynes did have them against App St.

Of course it was. And several people blue starred it. As I said earlier, it goes beyond being unhappy with play on the field. Our fanbase is extremely toxic and entitled at times. It's sad.

Not only that, dismissing him as "a High School coach" is pretty disingenuous as well- he's a pretty stellar HS coach from everything I've heard.

EDIT: After looking it up, 202 wins (45 playoff wins) in 18.5 years as a Head Coach, 1 state championship in 6A (favored to win 5A this year), 3 state championship appearances, 5 semifinal appearances, voted president of THSCA. Not a Super Bowl winning QB, but also not a slouch high school coach.

How in the heck is that bashing the QB? I'm merely making the case that while most fans have decided that Max is superior, I don't think it's nearly that obvious or cut and dried.

Clearly, Jimbo decided early that Hayne's was the better QB. We are running with Max right now. Max has looked pretty good, I think, but I thought my comment was suggesting that Hayne's is pretty good, too, and perhaps has had some really awful luck. I appreciate him immensely. I appreciate them both. And I appreciate that our coaches know more than we do, and have a really tough call to make.

Toxic? Go find a better word. It's over used anyway.

To be fair that is pretty much every fanbase that doesn't have a top tier or at least an established veteran QB.

Not much. They are both bad. Rogers is better than both. Fisher refuses to play our only hope at qb.
