Florida State prevented the SEC from going a perfect 14-0 in Week 1 and defeated an SEC team for the first time since a 38-22 win in Gainesville in 2017. This was a very wacky game, especially in the last 2:15. Florida State special teams blocked a field goal, recovered two muffed punts, and the game-tying extra point with no time left to preserve the win. After LSU wide reciever Malik Nabers muffed a punt for the 2nd time in this game at the LSU 8, Florida State was in position to put away the game. Instead, they fumbed on 3rd and Goal at the LSU 1 on a poorly executed pitch with 1:20 left. LSU marched 99 yards in 11 plays to put themselves in postion to tie the game, but Florida State safetey Shyheim Brown to survive late rally.

Florida State had scored on 39 straight red zone posessions, but failed to score off of 2 LSU turnvoers deep in their own territory.
1. On 4th and 2 from the LSU 8, Jordan Travis threw an incomplete pass to Mycah Pittman with 1:10 left in the 2nd quarter.
2. On 3rd and goal from the LSU 1, Treshaun Ward fumbled a pitch.

If Florida State head coach Mike Norvell had opted to take the points on 4th and 2 and just called for a simple handoff with 1:20 left, Florida State would have scored 10 more points and put LSU away much sooner. They were very fortuante to block the game tying exra point to prevent the game from going into overtime.

Yeah, he blew two golden scoring opportunies. 4th and 2 from the LSU 8 in the 2nd quarter and a pitch on 3rd and goal from the LSU 1 yard with 1:20 left. Like Boger McFarland said at halftime, Mike Norvell should have opted to kick a field goal to take the points. All FSU had to do was a simple handoff to take more time off the clock, even if it loses yards. Mike Norvell's foolish decisions allowed LSU to put themselves in position to send the game into overtime.

I was actually rooting for LSU to win because I wanted a perfect 14-0 for the SEC in Week 1. This game further reminds me that we have no lose to LSU at Kyle Field in our last regular saeson game. I would also like a double digit win over LSU.
