It's been the same amount of time as it was for the Manti doc...we all knew a Johnny doc was inevitable, I just always thought it was going to be a 30 for 30.amercer said:
Probably need to give it a couple more years. The "doc on the crazy ass guy" format works best when all involved can look back with a more clear perspective.

I think most non-Aggies didn't really tune into all things Johnny until the Alabama game. It was so crazy being an A&M fan in September/October 2012 knowing you were watching something utterly unique in the history of college football.
NO ONE had the 6th sense scrambling ability that Johnny had, the closest thing to it has been Kyler Murray but even he was different. Johnny would see a free pass rusher, literally run a full circle in the backfield, tiring out the rusher, and then somehow weave his way for a 20 yard gain. It was like watching a video game in real life.
It sounds dumb but the Ole Miss game in October 2012 is probably one of my top 5 favorite Aggie games of all time. We were dead to rights with a 3rd and 20+ from inside our own 5, and went on to score a touchdown in 3 plays to start our comeback and completely save the game and our season. My BAS temporarily died that day and didn't return until 2013. We ended with 2 losses on our record, but that team would have curb stomped Notre Dame had we played for some reason at the end of the season. Beat LSU and we would've had a legit chance at having a rematch in the championship against Bama.
Edit to add the specific drive I'm talking about in case anyone forgot:

Johnny was a phenomenon. He was 1 in 100 billion. No college football player will ever match what happened to him. He was sought after by Lebron and Drake. He was known by people who never watched college football.
In the end, his persona was his downfall, but he will always have a place in my heart. I hope all is well with him and that he is living a good life. I admire his bravery and I would gladly buy him a drink, be it beer or root beer. The guy is a legend and I am honored to have watched him make Texas A&M the talk of the football world and beyond for 2 seasons.

Well, he's getting inducted into the A&M HOF tonight, you might find him somewhere later.
Maybe we will before this documentary is released...An L of an Ag said:
