The thing is, you never hear that (except from Aggies and maybe OU fans) . They are perpetually back. We do need to win to prove them wrong (quit snatching defeat from the jaws of victory every year) but let's not pretend that many other schools are overrated and yet not held under the same scrutiny in many cases.SinKiller said:

Except in 2020 we finished #4 and IMHO were the 2nd best team in the country, but regardless we finished #4, not 8-4.
My argument is that it's really not far-fetched, I think most who follow college football could see this as overrated. We beat one good team last year, and we're replacing a lot. I just don't see the need to get fired up over it. You will know before September is over if #6 is too high. If we're there sitting at 4-0, nobody's arguing, 3-1, 2-2, they were most likely right. I have the same record prediction, but with the Alabama and Ole Miss games flipped. Except for the Alabama game, we should be favored in every game. I think Mississippi State has a better chance of upsetting us in Starkville than Ole Miss has at Kyle Field. Ole Miss will be playing their 9th consecutive game and coming off a tough road game at LSU when we host them. That means Ole Miss will probably be banged up by the time they travel to Kyle Field. Because the 2020 home game against Ole Miss was rescheduled several times before it was ultimately cancelled, this will only be our 4th home game against Ole Miss in 11 years and Lane Kiffin's first trip to Kyle Field. Also, no opposing defensive coordinator knows Lane Kiffin's offense better than our defensive coordinator DJ Durkin.
