What section did you sit in/would you reccommend? I was looking at section 22, but it has sections 23-25 listed as the student section. I'm not sure if this would be annoying.

I would avoid it. Stay home and watch it on TV.Divining Rod said:
I would avoid sun. I was in Sec 17 or 18 on Oct 1, 2016 for afternoon game and was hotter n hell. I looked up historical weather and see it was only mid 80s but it was miserable.
seems like south side (the one opposite the scoreboard) and below the press box (west side) will get you some shade. I guess that would be sec 10-14 in lower, 800+ and 900+ upper, and the low 300s below press box.
maybe im just a wimp. Heck, I dont even know if this will be a day game, and it's Oct 22 so a little later in season.

I'm expecting the stadium to suck in general. I'm checking off all SEC stadiums and this game fits into our schedule this year. We are staying in Charleston and just driving into Columbia for the day. I was just wanting to get good seats.

I recommend not going. Terrible stadium. It's in a huge parking lot. Not on campus. No atmosphere before, during, or after game. Their fans are not fun, welcoming, nor know how to tailgate.
Google Earth suggests your parking lot comment is a little off… that being said, it does look like a crappy location.TikkaShooter said:

I would not do 22. I'd either sit in the TMF seating (lower rows of 17, 18 and 19), or, if looking for the best seats, I'd go for the West side and seek shade. The stadium sort of reminds me of Jones stadium at Lubbock, only with even less around it. Built in the middle of the fair grounds, its not as isolated as it once was, but it's not a great area.Ag_N_Houston said:

And while I was looking, I toured a few other SEC stadiums on Google Earth, they are a little out of date on Kyle Field… it looks like it was a few weeks after the implosion of the West side… out of date, but kind of a fun walk back in time.

Use Google Maps instead and use the "Drop the guy in" feature. Much more updated and years ahead of Google Earth.Bluecat_Aggie94 said:Google Earth suggests your parking lot comment is a little off… that being said, it does look like a crappy location.TikkaShooter said:

I moved to the Columbia area about four years ago, so I always attend this game.
We sit in section 19 or 20 (lower level) which is where Aggie friends/family typically sit. Met Jimbo's mom and one of his friends from WV one year. The higher level nose bleed seats are not very good but you do have a nice breeze up there, so that's a plus.
Pre-game atmosphere is pretty blah. Gamecock Park is the best place to visit for tailgating (this is where I typically see the most Ags). Sandstorm is pretty cool. The "rooster noise" will make you look at your neighbor and ask WTF.
Side note, if you are flying up, the Columbia airport is nice, small and easy to get in and out of. There are also direct flights from DFW.
The heat was insane that day. Add to that the blaring rooster crowing every 3 minutes we were happy to get on the road back to Charleston for good food and drinks afterwards.Divining Rod said:

Man we took different paths to the stadium. Mine must have been up the sewer outfall line, because we thought Columbia was a **** hole.MaxPower said:
Stadium isn't much but Columbia is a pretty cool town.
