So, its been a while since I have tailgated. We have been raising young aggies for 18 years But now I have a freshman and would like to get general guidance on where to tailgate and what the rules of engagements are.

Is there a singular resource to review or can anyone give some tips?

We used to tailgate at Reed, not sure what the best options are now

Where are your tickets & your parking pass? That would be a good spot to start.

Considering your username, pony up for the REVELxp experience in Aggie Park.

Find someone that already tailgates and slip them some bucks. Way better than trying to start up your own

A lot of it depends on how you want to tailgate and where you have parking...

If you have an RV, that is a whole nother discussion...

You need a parking pass to park on campus on game weekends.

What is your crew's opinion on porta-potties?
If porta-potties are a hard no that will affect your choices

Approach from the air, people never expect it.

If you want a crazy drunk fest, Reed Arena is your scene.

If you like more calm grilling out, Spence Park is the place. Just be prepared, because even though it's purely a first come, first served dibs situation, the sense of entitlement that comes a long with people who have tailgated there since the civil war will likely lead to a blood curse placed on you and all of your relatives if you take the wrong spot.

If you have sold your soul to your corporate overlord, Simpson Drill Field is the perfect place for you.

Do you mean the appropriately designated Spence? Or the re-designated Aggie Park? Just curious…

I would recommend taking the free Gameday Shuttle to games. That's what I always do when I go to football games. As for tailgating, Aggie Park (previously known as Spence Park) would be a good place. It is a calm and relaxing place, but just be prepared to face people, who have tailgated there for generations, and can act entitled to their spots.

I believe an organization has to reserve a spot at Simpson Drill Field. I have tailgated there a few times.

If you want to tailgate, I have a nice spot in Lot H reserved across the tracks from campus hotel. App State game is available for $100.

Get wasted.
Embarrass yourself in front of co-eds.
Embarrass your son by showing co-eds his picture.

Free tailgating ideas! Aggie Park w/o a doubt. It's the 20 acres just east of the stadium. It's been totally redeveloped & will open Sept 2.
The norther end ( up against the garage) is known as War Hymn Plaza. It contain assigned, free tailgate spots good on a game by game basis ( ie, each home game, all spots are available Sunday night before the upcoming game. No carryover from the previous game). Free. One game at a time. No hold overs.
War Hymn Plaza is directly across Houston Street from the stadium. The band/corp normally march right by it.
There is a website to reserve your site on Sunday. I don't know it but contact 12Man Assn for contact info.

Drill field is mainly rented tents.

If you want to set your own tailgate up. Reed is probably going to be your best option. I think Spence will be an unknown on free tailgate options for the first game and then a land rush there after. Miami with game day will be crazy.

If you know someone, just bring stuff to add to their party. Your fish son may be doing his thing, so another option is park in the cheap lots and just open the car doors and party till you go to the game.

Additionally, there's a procedure where you can pull up & unload your setup. They'll tell you how when you reserve your free spot. In the past, best to set up day before
if possible. Come back at crack of dawn if you want & tailgate your tail off.
PS., I go by Aggie Park on a daily basis. It will be ready in 2 week. It will be Spectacular!!!

Tailgating is like a boat. The best ones are your friends'. Much better to come and drop money in the tip jar and it have to worry about setup, cooking, tear down, etc.

Wear opposing team's apparel over your Aggie gear. Plenty of good Ags will invite you over to their tailgate have free beer, booze and grub. Dispose of opposing team apparel prior to stumbling into Kyle Field.
