Serious question. Why does everyone on here hate ND ? Everyone. I know several graduates from ND and I don't get it. I'm not against hate especially the sips it just seems the Irish are on the baylol and tehc level of hate or even more..

Because if they win 3 consecutive games they will make it into the playoff. I dont think about tech or baylor at all.

In many ways they're like the sips but on a national level.

Yep. It's because Notre Dame constantly gets selected for post-season games they haven't earned.

Strange historical media love for them. BS stories in Rudy etc movies. Just fun to hate them? Football is hate. Are there teams we don't hate?

"Victory - not earned, but a birthright." That's what Domers say about themselves. I'm not making this up.

They surpass all when it comes to sense of entitlement. They have a TV deal with NBC all to themselves. They became only partial members of the ACC because they could get away with it while still maintaining their independence. For decades bowl stats didn't count for a player or team's season/career total because Notre Dame missed a lot of bowls due to a lack of conference affiliation, and counting bowl stats would have made an unfair comparison against Irish teams or players.

And like Ragnar said, they get special treatment from the polls/BCS/CFP. People with real influence spout nonsense like "The game is so much better when Notre Dame is good." Basically, they're the New York Yankees of college football.

Does that help?

Wouldn't say I hate them, they were my grandfathers team. If they were legitimately good it would be great for college football as a whole. They're just never legitimately good so the media pretends like they are.

Bc they get things they don't deserve. They have not been relevant in a long time but media still props them up. Very similar to the sips.

ND Lifecycle

January-February- Frauds who claim they are far to smart to compete with the likes of Bama
September- Promising dark horse title contender
November-December- We want Bama

Rinse and repeat.

I am massively indifferent about Baylor or Tech or any other Big12 school besides Texas. I attended OU for a couple years before transferring to A&M and knew several football players while I was there, so I pull for OU to do well.

I hate Texas. I hate Notre Dame. I hate LSU. I am tired of Alabama, but I respect that program.

The love that Notre Dame gets from the media despite never living up to it in recent history is enough to make me hope they lose every game they play. The hate definitely went to another level when they were given the playoff spot in 2020.

I think real reason is more (I) that they are Catholic university, (ii) they are independent and (iii) they have national tv deal.

I don't hate ND. Actually, football wise, I don't give them much thought. I think that is because they are not competing to win any conference on annual basis.

They get less from the NBC deal and ACC combined than we do from the SEC.

(I) has nothing to do with it to 98% of people that hate ND. The hate for ND mostly comes from the fact that they are what Texas aspires to be (chronically overrated, consistently break the sport of college football to satisfy their own greed, get credit for beating up on a terrible schedule).

This is the main reason for why for me. Not being in a conference makes there schedule inherently easier that schools in a conference. I don't care that they think Stanford and Purdue and Navy are rivalry games they are not as difficult or as important as conference games that count towards conference standings. Then when they do well against an overrated schedule they are always over rewarded. A more deserving team gets screwed. notre dame gets blown out (it has happened every time for over 20 years) and like someone else said they say it's because of their higher academic standards. Which if true I would love for them to say before they accept the undeserving bowl bid.

And yes I realize the one year they played a conference schedule they did well. The ACC was awful that year. 0-7 in bowl games (the only out of conference games to judge them by). Almost all blow outs.

Norte Dame does not act Catholic. Their president invited Obama to speak there even though Obama was anti Catholic. Dumb.

pretty much this. the national media has a love affair with a few programs. one is notre dame, another is texas and yet another is bama. hate notre dame, hate texas, dislike bama.

why the difference? bama has earned their accolades over many decades. texas and notre dame by and large have been has beens that are treated with similar level of respect as bama.

I think it's kind of weird to hate (or care about) multiple programs outside of one's alma mater and one or two traditional rivals.

Though I understand folks get tired of hype for traditional powers. The worst part of the CBS SEC game of the week is listening to Gary Danielson deliver his weekly sermon about how "it's good for college football when the blue bloods are good.." Then he rattles off the list. That's pathetic and tiresome; the audience for college football has grown so exponentially in the last decade because people are finally able to see non-traditional, "red blood" programs play every week.

I've never had any issues with Notre Dame. I think their uniforms are the best in football. I think their stadium is awesome. It's an elite academic school. It did piss me off when they started spewing hate toward A&M. I definitely thought that was rich coming from them but I also realize, in the world of social media, the words of a few can make it seem as though they speak for everyone. In the end, I don't root for them but I also don't root against them either(unless it impacts us).

You think it's just this board that hates Notre Dame? Every fan base that isn't Notre Dame hates Notre Dame. You can like the individual fan and still think the fan base / team are annoying.

To elaborate on my previous post about the sips and Irish. If either team is close as far having a chance, they always get the nod over other teams. There have been a few Big 12 and PAC champs that do not get the nod. That would never be the case for Texas. I'm pretty sure the only two times they have won the big 12 since 2000, they of course played for it all.

2012 ---LB lost his imaginary girl friend and grandmother the same day. ND pushed the narrative to gain national attention and support for the Heisman. To my knowledge ND has not acknowledged this lie. (Kind of like Biden claiming he is a good catholic)

In the 80s & 90s they were on TV every freaking Saturday across the nation…they had a huge advantage and still were mediocre most of the time. Anybody else would have worked that into multiple championships Screw the ND favoritism .
