I don't see a lazy river in there anywhere.

The Texags community is going to be very disappointed.

Update courtesy of poster Walt Longmire:

"The pond is being filled from fire hydrants right now, under agreement with CSFD. Once filled, the lake will be maintained via a well dug onsite. All drainage and effluent have been meticulously re-routed to the massive retention drainage system housed under the new parking lot.

Irrigation in the park is via A&M water. However, they have implemented an elaborate PH fertigation system directly into the park irrigation system to combat the notoriously bad A&M water and high PH. I don't know all the particulars there or even if I have the system name correct. Going off memory from what Marty Holmes shared last week in the BCAMC luncheon.

Trees and plants are warrantied, so if some don't make it they will be replaced. As mentioned earlier, the tree budget was millions. I believe Marty said it was $3M.

The lake will be stocked. In fact, 500 black bass were released in there about a week ago. More to come as the lake fills and stabilizes. So far, the fish are doing well. Many of them will be tagged for catch and release contests, fundraisers, etc. Again, all per Marty.

The creamery will be open and serving Blue Bell, refreshments, fresh baked cookies, light to-go snacks/lunches, etc. Game days will include "adult milk shakes".

Clean restrooms next to the creamery. Also a place to check out equipment to use in the park (fishing gear, etc). Wi-fi was a priority and is supposed to be smoking fast. Lots of lights, including most all trees for some neat effects. Electrical all over the park installed, including areas for food trucks.

As I listened to Marty give the update, it was just so impressive how no detail was left out. Fundraising just hit the mark to fully pay for the park. I think you'll soon enough hear plans on the new building, which is now slated to open spring 24.

The Throckmorton lawn will not be open for SHSU, as it was a late inclusion after President Banks decided to take down the VP of Student Affairs house late in the planning process. But I am told that area may be open a few weeks later. For Ole Miss definitely. They will use the area where the new building is going to stage equipment for some period of time until that building commences.

All in all, an amazing feat and something that we can all be proud of for decades to come."

This is complete BULL S***. For those of us who tailgated here for 20 years, had to move somewhere else, this is crap.

Watch the south end zone reno. We lose our second deck railing seats because some body wants a private box with a bunch of seats in front. Loyalty my as*.

Sorry been drinking a little more than I should; pay your damn money every year since 84/85 and get pushed around.
Peace for Ukraine!

Yeah, there's a handful of people mad because they can't squat on a choice spot for years and years anymore.

All free spots are now open for anyone to reserve online before every home game.

The further good news is that when the park is finished, there will be far more free spots available than before.

to be honest from what's been said of the free tailgating system it sounds like an ill-contrived mess waiting to happen

but will reserve judgement until after the first couple of games

It's bound to have some kinks to work out early on. But whatever is done, some still won't like it. Guaranteed. <shrug>

This post made me smile.

Seeing this particular poster complaining that he's not as important as he wants to be is just the kind of thing to enjoy on a Sunday morning.

.......and some folks should quit looking a gift horse in the mouth. The park will be fantastic all year round, not just on six home football games a year, and it isn't costing taxpayers, students or the University a dime to renovate.

Wait, people use the campus for other things when there's not a home game?

Wish someone had told me that when I was a student!

It will be interesting to see how the online "Land Rush" works to secure a free spot.

Free tailgating: The virtual land rush reservation process will start at 6 p.m. on the Sunday prior to each home game. For instance, for the first game against Sam Houston Sept. 3, the process opens Aug. 28 at 6 p.m.

agreed, the park will be great year-round

but no confidence given to a novel system that's going to be put into immediate deployment. the land rush worked great for what it is/was.

the scant 'policies' published just create more questions to be honest

but yes, the renovation looks awesome

Don't know how an online sign up will work but won't there be ways to game the system with better quality internet, etc?

I wonder how the secondary market for tailgating spots will work after 2-3 professionals grab up all the spots in the "land rush"

I've never understood some Aggies claims about entitlement. Those seats and spots are gone - cope and pivot.

I'm much more frustrated about being forced out of our SEZ seats than I am not being able to tailgate in Spence like we used to for years.

But even then I'm not that frustrated. Life goes on.

I just looked on the online reservation tool and you can only get 2 15x15 spots.

That's not to say a company couldn't have multiple individuals grab 2 each but there is going to be 350 free spots for the first 2 games and 500 free spots afterwards.

Dropped off my son for FOW this weekend and it doesn't look like it'll be ready for the 1st game. Looks like there is still decent amount of work to be completed before it opens.

If I understand correctly, the area on the Coke/Throckmorton side where all the construction company trailers are will be completed in Phase II. So it looks a right mess at the moment, and will be.

The area next to the UCG, and on the Houston St side, is much closer to done.
