Visited Starkville recently. Holy **** it's a dump. The campus was disappointing as well. It looks like a prison, there are junior colleges in Texas with nicer campuses. I hope they're not our permanent opponent.

I was very impressed with Oxford though. Great college town and a very pretty campus. Great spots to eat as well. Still need to experience a game day at the grove.

They are all dumps. Except for College Station, which is lovely.

Went to Oxford last year for the game…you are right, it is a beautiful place, especially during the fall. If you go, make sure you eat at a place called Big Bad Breakfast…amazing.

Haven't been to Missouri since the 2013 game, but unless they have updated significantly, I bet they can give Clanga a run for their (lack of) money.

SEC towns I've been to: College Station, Fayetteville, Oxford, Starkville, Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Baton Rouge, Columbia (SC), Nashville, Knoxville, Lexington.

Only 4 for football game day though - College Station, Fayetteville, Tuscaloosa and Auburn.

Probably would vote for Fayetteville, Nashville and Knoxville as my top 3.

Columbia (SC) didn't impress.

Sankey should send the horns and Sooners to Starkville every other year as payment for joining the SEC. It's basically Afghanistan.

I wouldn't exactly call A&Ms campus aesthetically pleasing...

MS State is so much worse. Think of the most run down ghetto inner city high school. That's what MS State looks like. You can smell the poverty.

Ha, I actually liked Columbia. Had some good food and bars. The stadium isn't fancy but had some charm to it.

Fayetteville also a really nice area and they've done a good job with that stadium.

I've only been to Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, USCe, and Vandy. Baton Rouge is the worst imo. There are some good food joints, campus is nice and downtown is pretty good but venture anywhere else and better be strapping. I'd still say it wasn't bad, especially since you probably stay on campus if you go there, just the worst of those options.

Not necessarily Ole Miss but that region of south Arkansas, north Louisiana, north Mississippi and west Tennessee leaves a lot to be desired.

Game day good: BR, Oxford, A&M, Arky, bama, Auburn
Game day bad: Starkvegas, SC
Haven't been to the others yet

Auburn was a beautiful drive in from Bham. Didn't see the campus other than stadium area. Oxford beautiful,
Starkville poor. Gotta get to Athens before I get too old. Aggieland is improving dramatically. Aggie Park & the latest announced projects will give us something to brag about when done in a few years

Given Bjork's (lack of) influence with the SEC office it will probably be us that gets paired with MS State as a permanent opponent.

Just saw in Brent Z's latest article:

Quote:

He (Bjork) said that under the eight-game format, UT and OU would plan to be permanent rivals, and A&M would be paired with LSU. The nine-game schedule allows the Aggies to play Texas, LSU and perhaps a program like Arkansas, an old SWC foe, every season.

Would happily take Texas, LSU, and Arkansas as permanent rivals. Proximity plus history/meaningful rivalries.

of the sec towns i've been to for an aggie football game, this is how i'd rank them

Baton Rouge is clearly the worst. Columbia SC is not that great and the football stadium (the only one in the SEC not on campus) is a s***hole. Miss State is not horrible. Oxford is probably the prettiest campus in SEC. Vanderbilt is nice. Headed to Auburn for the first time in November.

The Grove is highly, highly overrated. Not sure what you were expecting from State, it's called Starkpatch for a reason.

Best SEC towns/stadiums/gameday other than C.S. are Fayetteville, Auburn, UGA, Tuscaloosa, UT IMHO.

Fayetteville and the surrounding area is gorgeous. Biased because my girl is from there and I do a lot of work in Bentonville. We need to stop playing the Piggies in Dallas.

Best: College Station

Worst: The People's Republic of Austin

Nashville- phenomenal. Vandy - might wanna skip the game and just enjoy Nashville

Georgia - beautiful campus but kinda generic gameday atmosphere

Auburn - great great place to visit

Oxford is beautiful but OM fans/ Grove really nothing to write home about. Also worst gameday traffic I've ever seen

Red Stick - fantastic if you enjoy crime ridden sh**holes with great food

Good experience: Auburn, Georgia, Vandy (bc Nashville)

Bad experience: Mississippi State

I'm thinking about going to SC this year, because I haven't been yet. Is there anything good/redeeming about Columbia?

Knoxville and Nash are hard to beat for sure.
