Received noticed of allegations today for both basketball and football programs. I saw this on the basketball forum, but nothing here...

Exactly what rules could you even break any more? The players are already getting paid, legally. If Bryce Young is getting 1MM/year to play, what could Bama do wrong? I guess getting too creative with NIL, as some suspect we did?

What I read from the article is that LSU has another data point in a long history of cheating and scandal. What I read from your comment is that soon you will be able to attribute that behavior to the horns somehow.

Nah, reading it again didn't help

LSU also has a long history of nothing happened to them after scandals have been revealed

I have full confidence that LSU will do nothing to cooperate with the investigation.

When was the last time any program truly got punished? I can't remember any recent punishment being severe enough to actually deter cheating.

Read the article.

1. The allegations all pre-date NIL, which only came about last year.
2. The allegations involve straight cash payments orchestrated by the coach(es), which is still an NCAA violation even today.
3. The LSU basketball scandal was not uncovered originally by the NCAA, but by the FBI on a federal wiretap in an investigation that involved bribery, Adidas, and college coaches - not mere NCAA violations

So, there are still lots of rules that can be broken and can be especially problematic when the feds are involved in investigating financial relationships.

y'all do know they already "self imposed" a bowl ban after their 5-5 '20 campaign ( and were 3-5 when they proposed it)- I'm sure thst will suffice as a worthy sacrifice for stealing from a non profit children's hospital

At this point Our Lady of The Lake is probably like "keep the money, just stop Foghorn from grinding on young boys on camera"

I won't exactly be holding my breath waiting on any punishments. LSU is quite used to skating by on crap like this and I don't expect this time to be any different. If anything DOES come down, I'm sure it'll make a slap on the wrist look like torture by comparison

Here is some interesting commentary from Bruce Webber about how completely unfair the NCAA is. They have evidence of widespread cheating and none of the cheaters including LSU are being held accountable.
