As we have grown to know, the "wtf" losses have been deciding factors in our football history. As of recently, for example, the Mississippi State and LSU losses were perfect examples of "wtf" losses. We've had this problem in swc, and big 12. Is it over? Can we now overcome losing for bizarre reasons to inferior teams, like Alabama and Ohio State do? Will next year bring losses against South Carolina or Miami at home?

No, we're not done because these are 18-22 year olds. There's still room for error until we have a Clone Army capable of executing Order 66.

Alabama would argue they had one of those last year, and if they're not immune, no one is.

We must have year after year of top classes first.
And, even then, there will always be these unexplainable losses

Your unexplainable losses just come from better teams. Never underestimate the ability of this place to take the hype thrusters to the moon.

Plus bowl season is a total crap shoot if you aren't in the top 4.

1st year QB's are a key ingredient in a WTF loss still a possibility next season

Like Ohio St getting drilled by Iowa a few years back? The difference is the top teams only have 1 wtf loss, not 4..

South Carolina? Funny you would mention them.... You do know that last years early frontrunner for the Heisman is at USCe now right? I'm pretty sure Spencer Rattler has a huge chip on his shoulder. That could definitely be a WTF game.

Depends on whether you think in the first year after a #1 class (following several highly ranked classes behind our best competition) you can expect perfect installation of the new players and perfect execution. Maybe?

^^^^^. We've got to get where we only have 1, or at most 2, wtf losses. As another poster said, we also need another couple of top 3 to maybe top 5 recruiting classes.

For the time being (next season - possibly next 2), I think we're in for 2-3 wtf losses. Transfer portal and covid year also changed the dynamic. Against Arky this past season, about 30%-40% of their starters were transfers or super seniors.

This.
We're now at the point where we should be down to MAYBE one wtf loss every year but inexperience at the game's most important position will torpedo those expectations. Better expect one if not two this year. And that's "wtf losses". Not including Bama

Given fan disdain of Calzada, Bama was a wtf win…prove me wrong.,.

8-4 programs don't get to have wtf losses. They're just losses

There's no such thing as a WTF loss in Aggie football. Nobody snatches defeat from the jaws of victory like we do.

Even alabama doesn't get to escape an occasional wtf loss lol.

We're good, but upsets will always be part of the game.

Nobody is immune to WTF losses, not even Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, or Clemson. The difference is CFP teams have only 1 regular season loss. The most inexplicable WTF loss last year was a 26-22 loss to Mississippi State at Kyle Field because that turned out to be our only home loss. Hopefully, we will get to a point where we don't lose more than 2 games we were favored to win.

Question: So...are the "wtf" losses over with for a while with what now have built?
.
No
.
Almost every year there is a game, or games your team is expected to win, but loses, and the opposite is true. There are games won that were not expected. Otherwise, sports would not be interesting.

Other than Vandy, there are no WTF losses in the SEC, period. Do you think LSU or Auburn or FL thinks WTF?! when they lose to aTm?

We should not have lost to State or LSU IMHO, but those games were close and we just didn't execute enough to win.

I do think w/ better QB play we win both those games, but as it is it is a team game and we played the best QB we had available.

You reference USC(e) and Miami, we should certainly win those games, but could lose.

But no, the WTF losses, in your mind, are not over... unless you are talking about Sam Houston, UMass, PVAMU, etc.
