You might be missing a theme Jimbo pointed to: the incoming players recruited each other as much as the staff recruited them. And they're coming here to create firsts here. Hopefully that creates recruiting momentum as we win. But it really is a special set of circumstances that made this class so good. But Jimbo also pointed out it is only that good on paper and the real work has already begun with many early enrollees.
That win over Alabama set the tone. If we had lost that game, I really doubt that we would have the number one class.

Definitely

It was great timing.

Bama had the longest winning streak. All I remember was there were people all over cheering for them to be taken down. Luckily it was us that did it.

Now we are riding that momentum and signed the best class of all time. So Bama, etc are concerned.

Imo They're all pissed that our money guys were better organized and had a better plan than theirs. NIL was certainly a factor altho not necessarily the primary factor in this yrs recruiting success.

What do you expect them to say? A & M has a lot to offer and they also outsmarted us?

This NIL thing is gonna kill t-shirt schools. Lincoln Riley saw that a mile away. Red's Car Lot won't be enough to cover the gap.

T-shirt fans don't give. T-shirt fans don't have money. T-shirt fans buy t-shirts. Saban/Bama did NOT think this through. The joke is on them.

A couple of PAC and certain B1G schools should be able to compete again. Other than A&M, I don't see this NIL thing helping the SEC.

It's fun to celebrate the best class EVER, but as more and more of these threads have popped up, it's making me realize how upset so many people will be the next time our class is ranked, say, sixth.

Yes, the ridicule next year will be ten times worse if we aren't 1-3.

And if we are they will "regulate" NIL. Bank on it.

Next year we will still get a top 3 class. They will try to increase reporting criteria of the schools. But the bottom line is that you can't legally regulate what a person can earn unless that person signs a contract.

As long as players have the right to make their own money outside of a legally binding contract this will continue to be an advantage for teams that have donors that are organized.

Will we see player contracts? That's the question really. I don't see that happening for decades.
