While there were definitely things you could point to say Calzada was never going to be great, one has to wonder how good he really can be because he was playing injured the entire time after the Bama game.
And the "he can't/won't scramble" criticism? Would he be asked to scramble just whenever when we had NO back-up. That so limited our entire offensive philosophy the entire season after Calzada had to start and no one seems to factor that in. No QB draws, no options, no scrambles except to avoid getting hit anyway.

Add injury to insult and the kid nor our offense ever had a chance.

He'd be a huge upgrade over Finley, which isn't saying much.

I find it hard to believe that Calzada is a huge upgrade over anyone

An orange cone would be an upgrade over Finley.....

I would caution Zach on Auburn, it is a very bad sign that Nix transferred. That kid bleeds Auburn blue and orange, him transferring out is a huge, HUGE red flag....

I figured he was going to Georgia or Auburn.

If history is any indicator, just go ahead and engrave Calzada on next year's Heisman.

His inability to complete any touch passes aside, Calzada couldn't scramble if his life depended on it. Outside of the one good late run that he against Bama, he inevitably would trip over his own feet whenever he had open field. Very little balance to keep upright.... so maddening to watch time after time!

Dude was tough and a competitor... I will give him that.

His final TD passes in the CU and Bama games were two of the most beautiful touch passes you'll ever see. But unfortunately that's where the list ends.

Probably the only two times all year that he actually set his feet and didn't throw off of his back foot

I like Zach and want him to succeed somewhere

Auburn ain't it. Dematrius Davis is a stud and will win that QB job.
Doubt Davis ever takes a snap at QB there.

What's your reasoning? He shoulda been playing the bowl game imo. He would've put up more points than Finley did.
Can you name a North Shore QB that has had success at the collegiate level? The Geriner kid is already getting penciled in as the player at that position.

Besides, if he couldn't beat out Finley.....?

Calzada will do well. I hope he lands with a team that works for both of them.

All jokes aside, while it's true that Calzada might fizzle out, some of you guys seem to be forgetting that he's been playing hurt since the Bama game. He then suffered another injury well after that game, so he's been playing with a busted knee and a busted shoulder throughout the second half of the season.

In all honesty, I'd be worried about playing against Calzada at Auburn if they have a good o-line next year.
