I don't know how much more proof the ADs and ESPN need. Expand the ****ing playoff and we'll cut down on the meaningless bowl games and stupid semifinals.

The semifinal games have not ever been exciting or without a doubt.

Every single year there are teams below the top 4 that would play 1 & 2 close than whatever two blowhard teams make it in to challenge the champs

The conferences are scared the SEC will continue expanding. So they are going to demand flaccid games like we are watching today…

And many Texas A&M fans refuse to see the lack of today's parity and schedule balance makes for bad football. The SEC should go for a ten game, division-less schedule like basketball. And have a three round playoff at the end inviting best eight and seeding to avoid repetition in the playoffs.

Then go to four rounds when we get to 32 teams.

I mean, I know you're being facetious, but your plan would certainly be better than this garbage we're watching to close out the year

Thru 6 quarters, ZERO TD's by these 2 schools.

The sad side effect of the SEC and then Big Ten dominating the revenue is that the post season has lacked interesting games at the playoffs level. Unfortunately the regular season hasn't grown more interesting when the SEC stays at 8 games.
I wish the SEC was guaranteed 2 spots and played a 10 game schedule and a out of conference game vs a P5 school

These games pretty much sum up 2021.

Just have the top 4 SEC teams play each other. SEC is all that matters.

You had me in the first half, not gonna lie. And you have me in the 2nd have. To quote Hillary Clinton: "Let's make it happen."

I remember when a lot of people on this board were claiming UGa was overrated after they got caught off guard by Bama's best game of the year.

Let's be real, NIL will not improve this situation and will make it worse. Unless you can cap it and all P5 schools have the same budget, the rich will keep getting richer.

The business model is already proven with the NFL

The chances of these games being more compelling than what we've been seeing is much higher at least.

A cap would not help anyone but the best teams

Unless college football starts a draft, the NFL comparison fails

I tend to agree. I think one of the problems in current system and also in the scenarios being proposed is that winning a conference championship is pointless. Either devise a systems that makes conference champion meaningful or get rid of it all together....

They are. And Jan 10th will be proof.

Not saying they don't deserve the championship game. Just think other SEC West teams match up as well, if not better than GA and Kirby. Georgia would not have been a one loss team if they played in the West.

OR is this further proof that everyone that DESERVED a shot to play for the national championship made the current playoff and that there is no need to have more irrelevant blowouts?

How many times since we started the playoffs have we got #1 vs #2 in the final? Even if the semi-final games haven't been great, the lower ranked team has won frequently.

People say they don't want to see 3 loss teams in the playoffs, but how many 3 loss teams would have beat Cincy, UM, or ND this year?

I think an 8 team playoff would be great, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some 7s and 8s in the NCG.

8 team playoff this year would have been:

Bama v Ole Miss

Michigan v Baylor

Ohio St v Georgia

Cincy v ND

How many of those teams were better than 2 and 4?

The CFP committee needs to stop valuing "undefeated" or 1 loss and even JUST a H2H result and look at the overall body of work and the schedule. Being undefeated or having just 1 loss means NOTHING when you play a weak schedule. Also, yes Cincy beat ND, but that does not validate them as being better than ND, it means they were better than ND that day, and it also does not outweigh the rest of their terrible schedule.

If we want to reward a team like Cincy to be in an expanded CP Playoff of 8/10/12 teams, OK, but certainly not a 4 team field.

Ole Miss, baylor, OK State, Ohio State all were better than Cincy and more deserving of the #4 spot.

Seeing as tOSU refuses to play a home and home ( or even neutral site ) with Cincy ( which I completely understand their refusal )
I find it hard to fault Cincy for their OOC schedule
I am pretty sure under no circumstances would the Ags agree to a home and home ( neutral site ) with any of our former conference foes.

It is understandable why elite power 5 schools are not able to schedule the likes of Cincy ,LaTech, Tceh, UCF etc but hard to honestly argue how we would whip if we refuse to play them

Of course I was very excited to watch the Ags versus Kent State & NM last year.

You still have to give some credence to head-to-head.
Otherwise, you could say 8-4 A&M deserved to be in the playoffs because we were a better team than the four teams we lost to.
But this is more to say that Cincy deserved to be in the playoffs more than ND because their schedules weren't that different and they beat ND at ND.

I just wish A&M could've played a little better in their losses and won more of them because I felt like we had potential to be better than everyone except Bama and Georgia and we did beat Bama. So frustrating.
