Not for Mrs Woodward.

He is a putz....not a fan, but known for splash hires. Scariest thing to me is that Jimbo is friends w him in general (as he is an untrustworthy person....why he fits at LSU so well).
The rate for the next LSU coach was set long before Kelly was hired. A high profile coach is going to get a long term contract worth 9-10 million / year. Woodward likes to make high profile hires.Salute The Marines said:
He struck out on his first two choices (Riley and Jimbo) and then had to massively overpay for bad fit.

It's a very strange thing - the role of an AD in D1 football.
I mean, if you're a booster involved with the hiring of a "high powered" AD - the reality is that you're hiring someone who's aim is to convince you and your buddies to shell out absurd amounts of money to hire a coach.
And then the AD gets credit for getting YOU to spend YOUR money after YOU hired him.
It's just further proof that we live in a really weird world.

Pretty sure I could match his efforts. How hard is it to get direction from my boss/bosses, to go spend any amount of money to get the best coach you can find?CheersforBeers said:

Go to Jimmy Sexton and tell him you have no limit on what you can spend.
Ole Jimmy (the former Astros minor leaguer, who got to suit up with the big club in a couple of Septembers) and he can find what you are looking for, plus hype it to the Feldman's of the sports media world and you are now considered an AD genius.

Baylor AD seems to be doing quite well.

I'd rather have a Corvette than a Lincoln...get it?Salute The Marines said:rbcs_2 said:The rate for the next LSU coach was set long before Kelly was hired. Of course but a lot of dollars is more palatable when you get what you are paying for. Woodward tried to by a Ferrari and Lambo. He wound up paying the same money for a Corvette.

I think Dave didn't want to go back there personally. Having been there, he probably figured it wasn't worth the money. To me, that's a telling sign.

To back there he would have to be offered. I don't think he was anywhere near the top of LSU's list.
