Yes they did. When they took the field the LSU faithful showered them with boos. As a BQ dad I thought wow. Especially since their band had just finished their rendition of the Batman theme, then Wonder Woman, Frozen, and Ghostbusters. Yes. Frozen. I'm not joking.

I didn't hear many boos when the Aggie band took the field.. and the LSU folks around us pretty much all clapped at conclusion.

Not a roaring standing ovation but a light round of applause

...Was not shocked at how their crowd reacted. Had a real "class act" in my area.
Band did awesome, as usual. Final SEC march for my boy....You should be able to find videos all over FaceBook, etc...In addition, the march in went very smooth. Fans were well behaved. Band had lots of law enforcement protection, which was impressive.

I got a band related text from a die hard Tiger.

Very positive. Probably just humble brag on hisbseat location with the pic but the text was "yall got a good band"

Followed by "legit good band"

This was one of our finest drills my senior year:
Lost Indian, menstrual turns, lots of flash, and this was the middle of October.

Great drill...but nothing different than what we have all seen throughout 2021.
I will let my Aggie drummer chime in here soon. Maybe I am missing something...
Bottom line, Aggie Band is just fine today. Same creativity I have seen since 1984...

Before you young guys from the 80's get into it, let this old BQ stir the pot. Patton and Green Beret were new music when I was in the FTAB over 1/2 a century ago. We've beat 'em to death. I would love to see a few years moratorium on both of them

The movie Patton came out in 1970, when did the Aggie Band start playing it? Our arrangement was by Col Haney, so I'm guessing that music was post 1970

They are signature pieces for FTAB. Celebrating the military heritage of A&M. I just cannot imagine the FTAB marching without playing these. Well, okay, if they played something from Hans Zimmer's work or maybe Goldfinger/James Bond themes, but Frozen???

1970 is when the movie came out. A bunch a BQ's went to see the movie, wearing our boots, at a downtown Houston theater. Seems like we played Patton when I was a senior, but I could be wrong. After all, I was drummer, not a musician. Regardless, I think it's time to give them a rest.

In the 80s, we were truly the "fighting" texas aggie band. Baton rouge every other year was a guaranteed brawl. Not surprised at poor reaction of crowd. BTW...old army can be new...current BQs, if replacing one of the big 4, or maybe bravura...pull out col haneys first...Brazos Brigade!

We have a lot of other meaningful institutions at our school as well.

But since you're such a hard core, never settle for anything less than an undefeated season football guy, none of them likely matter to you either.

1988 it was batteries and a cinder block...block didnt hit anyone. Theo Franklins bass did. Birth of bass to face combat.

Actually the Payton arrangement was done by head drum major Mic Comely CO'76. A bunch of us assisted by playing it under his direction in the band hall so he could make changes. Haney agreed to allow the band to play it as long as Mic never applied for a copyright and received no royalty payments.

The Navy Band and Marine Corps band adopted it as part of their portfolio.
