I know a lot of you think this year was a bust, but I don't think it was at all. In the big picture, we are getting closer to that SEC Championship game and it's starting to feel that it's within our grasp. We beat Bama and we were in contention to win every game. We just need to keep adding great recruits to the program and we will get to the top soon. Jimbo is the guy to get us there and he has us on the right track.

Every player and coach on the roster will remember how close they were this season. Motivation to work your tail off this off season. Adversity builds character and Jimbo will take full advantage to motivate his team.

I appreciate your optimism.

The loss yesterday had me doubting Jimbo, but I might be slowly stepping back from that ledge…….my friend

Championship next year. GUARANTEED!!!

(no wait. it's his contract that's guaranteed)

We're really not as close as it feels we are. We just went 8-4. In year 4 under Jimbo.

We just finished 5th in the SEC West. There are 7 teams. We just finished 5th out of 7 in our freaking division. We beat Bama (fluke) but went 1-4 against the rest of the teams in the West. Lame duck Ed O beat the "mighty" Jimbo Fisher. We are a long way away.

This was a disappointment. However, after the Pirate game I was thinking 5-7. Got to retool, work hard and find a way to win close games.

When you beat Bama the way we did it wasn't a fluke. That was solid football and a legit win. Also, the SEC West had many good teams that could beat each other on any given day. We just need to keep adding great recruits and we'll start to separate ourselves from those teams.

Believe Jimbo will get it done! Let's not jump off ship and quit on these guys. So glad to see not everyone is giving up on our team. They need and deserve our support. There are too many whiners these days…not what Ags are about!

With a backup QB that wasn't expected to play. Considering even King had limited experience, I'm sure Calzada had essentially zero first team reps in practice.

The defense and special teams are stellar in year 4. We need to hire someone to run the offense. It's beyond clearly the weakest part of our program.

He had first team reps all season. King got hurt Week 2.

A team that is [apparently] capable of beating Alabama should not get out-coached in 4 of its 5 other divisional games. Should not happen.

With the recruits that Coach Jimbo has coming in next years team should be even better than this year. I've been following the recruiting results on rivals.com very carefully.

The master plan was always to compete for a national title in 22 and 23. Next year King will be back from injury and the offensive line will much improved.

Despite the loss to LSU, I saw flashes of greatness from the defensive line last night.
You give that defensive line talent another year with the A&M facilities and weight room, and they are almost guaranteed to be better in 22.

Next years team will compete for the SEC title.

Bama should have two more losses already and will lose to Georgia. They are a 9-3 team with refs protecting them.

I agree with OP. The one thing Jimbo brings on a consistent basis is top notch recruiting. If you don't have that nothing else matters. This 2022 class he's putting together can be special !!! If we're still having the same issues in a couple years i'll join the negativity boat but right now I feel we're taking that next step to greatness !

Agree. After King went down, I figured a losing season. Especially after arky and state. Season actually showed something despite the record. That includes Jimbo.

I have been hearing about "next year" ever since the 2010 season ended. "Next year" in the context it is used by Aggies never comes. We have had two good seasons in the entirety of the 21st Century and in those two seasons we did not even win our division, let alone our conference, let alone the NATIONAL title!!!

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Just because Calzada has played all season doesn't suddenly equate to him having the same success that King could've had.

Losing your starting QB breaks most offenses, aside from programs like Bama who just plug in another 5 star QB. I do agree though that Jimbo didn't leave us with a lot of depth at QB, which is on him considering he had plenty of recruiting classes by now.

Biggest frustration to me is the lack of fire early on in games. It's just so "Aggie" to lay an egg in these big matchups and waste the entire first half.

If there was ever a year to win in Baton Rouge, last night was it. And yet we came out like we were playing Joe B. and the 2019 Tigers.

The criticism of our program by outsiders is mostly deserved. If the team had played with passion for 60 minutes, they would have won that game.

To me, that's a bigger problem with Jimbo than his fourth-quarter play calling. His teams ought to be ready to go at the opening kickoff.

I've been following Aggie football for 34 years now.

We've been saying this every year.

"We'll get 'EM next year Ags!" "Closest we've ever been, Ags!"

Yawn.

Good, if you feel that way then get off TexAgs. I've been following recruiting for 20+ years now and Jimbo is one of the very best in this space. If you don't want to hang around for the ride then leave. I graduated in 1991 and get where you're coming from but I feel the next several years could be very special for Aggies.

Fisher brings something here that wev'e never really had before …. The ability to bring in top level players in adequate numbers to have a chance to win a National title . That's a necessary quality to win a title but not sufficient in and of itself. Can he turn that opportunity into a title? Dunno. He has done it before tho so he's certainly got a better argument than almost anyone else to get the job done not named Saban or Dabo. I do wish he'd try to keep an open mind on bringing in new offensive ideas and maybe he does . Don't see much evidence of it tho.

If your'e talking to me I think the defense was good enough to win a title this year had we had a high quality offense and Jimbo clearly let's Elko run the defense . Late game failure aside last night because LSU should have never had the chance to pull a W out of their ass imo if we have a competent offense. I am still pissed that we let a receiver get in position to score a TD.

We need a texags classic with threads from pre-internet years like we are so close 1956 edition, I stand with Homer Norton, talk about how the refs only favor powerhouses like Rice, and edd Hargett posted something rude on the campus corkboard.

Unless your bama

Every season is a different season. Look at Michigan if some people had their way harbaugh would have been gone. He has underwhelmed in his time in Ann Arbor and couldn't beat his rivals. He is one win away from the college football playoff. We have one of the good ones, our bottom is 8-4 if we are hit by tons of injuries.

Harbaugh lost to Michigan State this year too...they wanted to fire him.

During his tenure at Mischigan he has a losing record vs. Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Not true about being far away. We didn't get blown out by anyone. We lost our starting QB early on and our backup did the best that he could. We had an all new O-Line with the exception of KG. Mistakes were made this season, but we were snake bit as well.
