Regardless of your station in life or your profession, there is a fine line between confidence in your abilities and ego… One is universally recognized as positive and the other as universally toxic…

Some people have the ability to honestly reflect on their accomplishments (or lack thereof) and make any necessary changes…

Others egotistically tell themselves "I've been doing this for a long time, so all you critics can just shut up…"

The second attitude is what got Fran, RC, and countless other coaches fired… The list is long….

Four years should be enough data for accurate reflection…

Hopefully, we don't have another Fran…

Nick Saban is 70 and his program is ever developing. Saban is always surrounding himself with new people.

There is a Reason that Florida State Fans were very glad to get ride of Jimbo.

His Offensive play calling is Very Outdated.

Saban didn't build or field anything of relevance at MichSt until his year #5.
Happened faster for him at LSU and Bama, but we're not LSU and Bama either….program-wise we're still trying to become something like them, similar to MichSt staring up at OhSt, Mich, etc etc etc at the time.

Fisher and Woodward set up a 7 year initial deal for a reason. I think they knew where we were, vs where we were trying to go.

His one down year, they were littered with injury, even playing QB3 most of season.
First game they were exchanging blows with Bama and looking pretty good until QB1 got hurt.

OK. So let's see what happens in year 4 of 7, Receivers have been dropping balls for 3 years. Middle of D-Line gets gashed for chunk runs. DB's constantly get beat deep. O-Line is great one year and bad the next. I don't know what to say about QB play. The 4th year a coach owns it..

And in his 4th year, Saban went 6-6 overall and 4-4 conference.

We don't. Fran was absolute garbage, we literally weren't bowl eligible with him, he literally went for one instead of two and cost us a game against Clemson. Fran sucked sooooo bad. I remember standing ovations when we threw the ball down the field.

While on the subject let's not underestimate LSUs motivation with their Creole leader leaving, remember we beat TU on Frans last game, crazy things happen in those games.

Jumbo's initial deal was 10 years, not seven. I was ok with that, although I thought we overpaid. He wanted out of FSU and would have done a 10 year deal for a lot less.

I was NOT ok with the raise and extension. He would have had 6 years left in the original deal. I realize they we upped him to keep him from leaving. But if I were the AD at this point, having just witnessed this mediocre season, and he ever came into my office asking for another raise, I'd kick his fat ass out of my office with my size 12 boot.

Friggin do what you were hired to do.

We can't tackle. Jimbo needs to create a new Junction Boys camp. Weed out the Betas.

This is the stupidest take that keeps getting spouted. FSU fans would take jimbo back in a heartbeat

Fran won 32 games in 5 seasons while at tamu.
Jimbo has 34 wins…. In one less season with a decent chance at 35 wins. And has us poised to have one of the most elite recruiting classes in the nation and maybe program history.

Not exactly a comparison.

For real.. they were getting restless a little, but when he left they went full on cry baby mode and they've been absolutely trash since he left. If he never left, they'd be in a much better place no doubt.

100% revisionist history. FSU fans were beside themselves when Jimbo was leaving and then the Christmas tree thing.

First was that he'd never take that step down from elite FSU. Then it was that it was a lateral move at best. Then it was that we were overpaying. Then they were glad they got rid of him because he was always whining about facilities and staff.
