Not sure where else to post, but this is a spot that gets a lot of views and lots of prayers are needed.

Bus full of HS band members on the way from Andrews to Sweetwater got into an accident in Big Spring. "Multiple Fatalities".

My uncles father in law was behind the bus and was one of the first on the scene. Horrible deal. Prayers for all parties involved.

Darin K. Johns was the band director at Andrews and 53 years old. He leaves behind a wife Karen, two children and three grandchildren. This is just horrible.

Personal friends of ours, Darin was my first band director even in Abilene, but his wife Karen remains in very critical condition. Such a terrible loss.

I've never understood how you can end up going the wrong way on a major interstate and not realize your mistake almost instantly. I realize this happened at night and it is easier to get disoriented, but I still can't imagine doing this.
Very sad especially this time of year.

A third death has been reported I believe it was the bus driver based on a comment on another director's Facebook post.

Accident happened at 4:46PM according to the GoSanAngelo story linked above. Going to assume the wrong way driver was under some influence.

Probably the case.
So many DUI this time of year and to many innocent people die.
When we will get serious about DUI/DWI?

The I-20 access roads in most of West Texas allow for both east and west bound traffic, on either side of the interstate, to travel down. If the bus was on the west bound access road heading east, the driver of the F350 could easily assume both lanes were for west bound traffic if he wasn't paying attention to the yellow stripe down the middle.
It's a very sad situation

This, plus that is the oil patch, may have been an over worked exhausted oil field worker.

Worked in the patch last year for a bit, and they always tell you working on a rig is dangerous but leaving the rig and driving back to town is the most dangerous part of the job.

I roughnecked offshore during the summers at A&M. I cannot imagine having to drive home after a 12 hour day on the floor. You are completely exhausted.

This is terrible.

When i was in high school band we went through something similar to this. It was a little after 2 am heading back home from a competition. I was in the back of the trailing charter bus in the middle of one of the best truth or dare games in my life when out of nowhere you hear a loud bang and our bus driver slams the breaks. Apparently the lead bus got T-boned. Any of us that looked out the windows could see the bus almost tip over on its left side. Only by some expert driving maneuvers did that bus stay upright and avoid hitting a median at 40ish mph.

Thankfully the only casualties were instruments as the T bone hit exploded the cargo holds of the bus where all the good stuff is kept. We were all shaken up, the drunk driver is still in jail last i checked because it was like his 4th DUI and second involving minors or something like that. If that bus ever tipped im sure there would have been casualties. Fully loaded bus with most asleep, a tip over and slide into a median at 40 mph would have been catastrophic.

I could not imagine having lost some of my friends after marching with them just hours before, i would be a completely different person today. Thoughts and prayers to that school those kids and families.
