"On the cusp of being elite" = aint done sh*t

The good:
-We beat a surprisingly human Bama team this year.
-We have a top 5 recruiting class (and climbing) to look forward to.

The bad:
We are an average SEC West team right now. Until we prove otherwise, that's what we are. We had 3 losses to teams in our own division, with 2 of those being to average teams. All 3 of those teams had inferior talent compared to us. Make excuses all you want about king getting hurt but there is no evidence that he was Johnny Football 2.0.

I hate to be negative but Jesus y'all count so many chickens before they hatch.

We have a Post of the Day can we also have a Jackass Post of the Day/Week? This one would be a frontrunner.

It takes 3-4 years of elite recruiting and coaching adjustments to get to Alabama/Georgia level. I'm gonna enjoy the rest of this season for what it is. Suggest you go find your instant gratification somewhere else.

It's year 4 and he's had 4 top 10 classes in a row. Has ole miss? Has miss st? Has Arkansas? With our current talent level we shouldn't be losing to those teams, even when your starting QB goes down. Lack of QB depth is on the head coach especially when he's considered a "QB whisperer". There should be somebody on the bench that can at least make a decent decision with the football for more than 1 game.

Two dumb takes in a row Ingus.

O Line deficiencies and injuries aren't taken care of overnight and to lay all of this on the QB position is just plain laughable. You do realize that Calzada's been playing banged up since the Alabama game, right?

And, in response to your third post, yes you are being negative.

Where would you place everyone (with current trajectory as a factor)? My opinion:

Elite: Bama, UGA
On the cusp: A&M, Auburn, Ole Miss
Dangerous: MSU
Has-beens: Florida, LSU, Tennessee
Little engines that could: Arkansas, Kentucky
Whipping boys: Missouri, USCe, Vandy
Thanks a bunch.
You just jinxed us with LSU.

Mizzou, USCe and vandy are bottom feeders
In terms of geography and demographics, Carolina is basically exactly like Clemson. In terms of $$ they passed Clemson about 10 years ago. If Dabo coached there instead I think he'd have practically identical results, like if Bryant and Saban had coached at Auburn instead.

I also believe that Arky, Miss and State can be elite with elite coaching, but they'd have to have the $$ to keep them around and happy, especially with assistant coaches and facilities. Arky has access to whatever the Waltons and Jerrah wanna give 'em.

I'm curious as to how many of you agree or disagree with my take.
I think Arkansas is in a good spot to compete as a spoiler with Sam Pittman. He is perfect for Arkansas; he knows how to hire a very good team of assistant coaches and he fits the mold of a Razorback coach. I consider him to be somewhat similar to Houston Nutt, in some ways. I do not see Arkansas challenging for an SEC West title as long as Alabama is in top-flight mode and LSU is lurking, but let's not forget that Houston Nutt won two SEC West titles during his tenure.

I can't really comment on the Mississippi schools, except to say that they owned us in 2021.

I personally think it is more like this:

Consistent Elite: Bama, Georgia
Volatile Elite: LSU, Auburn, Florida (roller coaster rides baby! Sometimes we suck, sometimes we are in SEC title contention!)

On The Cusp of Elite (hopefully Consistent): Texas A&M

Can Be Good At Times but hard to see SEC champ game appearance anytime in next several years: Arkansas, Tenn, Ole Miss, Miss State

Mostly F***ed: South Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky
Totally F***ed: Vandy
