I doubt this. I thought maybe at first, but then there was a stat displayed over the weekend about Franklin and I believe it said he has lost the last 9 games vs. top-10 opponents. He's 2-9 in his last 11 games vs top-10 teams, with the 2 wins coming in 2016. not sure I would want someone who maybe can't win every other big game at least.

He wants a splash, but there's not an attainable splash. So he's hiring Dave Aranda. Like we tried to as DC, but got ElKo instead, and we're good, and LSU willl pretend they are, and Baylor was, but isn't anymore, and things are good.

And this is how this will go.

Lane Kiffin would take the LSU job in a second if he were offered it, don't you think? He'd definitely bring the offense they need to revamp. The DC would be important. Ole Miss was really good this year because of Matt Corral rather than their team as a whole, but I can imagine that Lane would be successful at LSU with the talent they have on the shelf.

I immediately question his judgment.

Jimbo has already turned down the job multiple times publicly, which does show LSU as the lesser job. So Woodward has not done as good of a PR job as the tigers would think.

And also Dabo is not leaving Clemson, but they can continue to dream.

In all likelihood they will settle with Aranda or Tucker.

do they think they are too big time to hire a coordinator, like Elko? I fear Jimbo leaving less than Elko -- but I guess to a program with less history than LSU.

Aranda is a damn good coach, but he's kind of an introverted, thoughtful guy, and I'm not sure if he'd want to deal with all of the off-field political bull**** that the LSU job entails, or whether LSU would want him in that position to begin with. If he's an actual serious candidate for USC, that's probably the better fit. Or Washington, if they can outspend Baylor.

I think Woodward will go after Lincoln Riley. He won't be able to get Jimbo or Dabo.

To me, Aranda is their best choice and he also presents a case where he could easily come in and get them going in the right direction. Dude is a good coach, knows the program and LA HS coaches well, and will bring a great defensive mindset back to them. I would love for them to go in another direction, actually.

I agree that Aranda is the better coach.

Smoke is getting stronger around Riley. I gotta say, Lincoln Riley does not scare me as an A&M fan. I think this year has exposed him, a bit. I actually don't think he's a great coach.

It will be Lincoln Riley - can't believe he would leave OU for LSU, but thats what will happen…

It was going to be O' Sullivan until negotiations fell apart. He then threw a bunch of money at Corbin, spoke to Casey and Bianco, but ultimately decided on Jay Johnson which by all accounts is a solid hire so far.
