I'm not sure Elko wants to be a head coach. As long as we keep him well paid and otherwise happy, I think he will stay in College Station for a long, long time.

I could be wrong, but I thought someone said Elko has visited with Tech, so I believe he is interested in HC jobs, but he is going to be wise about which one he takes. I expect him to be gone in the next 14 months, and he deserves to pursue whatever he wants! He's given us all he's got and more and built an amazing defense. We're blessed to have him, and if a school gets him as HC, they've made a great choice!

Also, Elko is doing well because he has talent to work with. Going to TTU means he will have his pick of the 3star standouts from the 2A high schools in Texas.

Elko is about to have a lot of shiny new recruits to work with. Walter Nolan, Bryce Anderson, possibly Shemar Stewart & Harold Perkins. His defenses could be even better than what we're seeing now.

Jobs Elko could leave for, and might get offers for:

1) LSU head coach
2) tu head coach
3) PSU head coach
4) Michigan head coach
5) UCLA head coach
6) Florida head coach

This assumes we continue to shut teams out this year.

Unfortunately I think this offseason he's going to start getting some decent offers. Possibly even from the NFL. He's finally getting the recognition he deserves. Be nice to keep him for ages a la Bud Foster but I think Jimbo better start thinking about lining up a replacement

1) PSU Is the one he wants, and with Franklin leaving he's getting a phone call (facilities suck / Franklin is in an FSU Jimbo position there where he wants updates to keep pace but isn't given the funds)
2) UM is gonna try to go get a "splash" hire not sure they take a coordinator but if Elko gets the offer he gone
3) LSU, most coaches will say yes as an easy recruiting spot, and the most recent winning history gives them a solid shot at the playoffs
4) Nebraska, in the age of NIL, they'd actually start doing well with Elko, I'm not saying Elko should take it but he's going to be a top target. Ultimately I think they land Matt Campbell.
5) UF, whoooo boy lol, not sure the boosters are worth the headache honestly but the job is a solid one and most coaches will take it.
6) UCLA? I think not, given Elko is a B1G guy and sees the PAC being the odd man out of the playoffs generally.
7) Sips, could they afford him, I'm sure they'll offer but no way he takes one once they go to the SEC. I could see Aranda ending up there potentially
