Haven't watched much but curious as to who has the edge:

A&M OL vs Auburn DL
A&M DL vs Auburn OL

QB experience wins out with Nix.

Curious as to your thoughts!

I wanna see the defense destroy Nix as if he killed their dog. More time on the turf than standing.

I would go with each DL having the advantage.

A&M has never beaten Auburn at home, and that changes this weekend!

*Edit: NEXT weekend

I agree. Running QBs have had some big plays against us this year. Kent State, Colorado, Arky, and Bama all busted us a couple times but we also dealt some damage to Colorado and Arky QBs. I think we'll be up to the task. DEs have gotta contain and not just blast like 10 yards into the backfield, trying to run around the tackles.

exactly! He's faster than Buddy Johnson or Hansford are and one of the faster if not fastest linebackers we've had in a while! He's going to be key Saturday! Expect him to make some money and get his name recognized nationally with a strong performance!

Also Auburn cannot defend a blitz to save their life. We're going to be wreaking havoc all afternoon! It's a good matchup for our DL.

I like our dl vs their oline

I think our oline is going to do a fairly good job, well run the ball some, not 300 yards but like 200ish

Nix is the wild card: if we can limit his running, I like our chances a lot in this game

On paper, our DL should be better than their OL. Our OL vs their DL is close to a draw.

They lack a feature WR, so we can probably spy and blitz plenty.

Their DBs are good and should be able to cover our WRs.

Pocket Nix is beatable, bootleg and scrambling Nix is a totally different player.

Bo Nix is a scary player because he's unpredictable. When he plays like he does in most road games, he's not much of a threat. He has certain games where he plays at an elite level and scrambles to make plays that shouldn't be possible, though. He's playing very well of late.

I like the suggestion of spying him with Cooper - that guy's fast and a really good tackler. I'm hoping Tyree is ready to go, because he's a terror flying in off the edge.

This is one I'm glad we're playing at home. I expect our D Line to control the game. Auburn has a good defense, but with the speed we have in our skill players, all it takes is a sliver of daylight and you get a TD even in the running or short yard passing game. During the course of 60 minutes, we'll get some of those chunk plays. I think our players are better than theirs, and that will decide the game.

I wouldn't trade our guys for any of theirs. The only edge for Auburn is Nix with the experience and playing at a high level. Smoke Monday is good but still like our guys better. Same with Tank.

I didn't say they would be able to cover our RBs or TE.

I hate to say it but, overall I give the edge to Auburn. They are sharp, coming off a top 10 win. We are coming off a bye week and historically we come out flat after a bye.

Yes, we were usually flat after bye week under Kevin Sumlin. Kevin Sumlin went 2-6 after bye weeks, and one of those wins was a very uninspiring 21-16 home win over Louisiana Monroe after the first bye week in 2014. Even worse, Sumlin lost his last 5 SEC games after bye weeks, including 3 at Kyle Field.

2012: lost to Florida 20-17 at home. Hurricane Isaac forced a Week 1 bye for Louisiana Tech and Texas A&M.
2013: defeated Ole Miss 41-38 on the road and lost at LSU 34-10.
2014: defeated Louisiana Monroe 21-16 and lost to LSU 23-17 at home
2015: lost to Alabama 41-23 at home
2016: lost at Alabama 33-16
2017: lost to Mississippi State 35-14 at home

By contrast, Jimbo Fisher is 3-2 after bye weeks. Jimbo Fisher had lost his first two games after a bye week, but has won his last three such games. In 2018, Mississippi State had the second best scoring defense (13.2 points per game) behind only Clemson. There was no way Kellen Mond and our offense would have scored much against that defense. Then in 2019, we faced Alabama after the first bye week. Since then, Jimbo has not lost after a bye.

2018: lost at Mississippi State 28-13
2019: lost to Alabama 47-28 at home and defeated South Carolina 30-6
2020: defeated LSU 20-7 after 2 weeks off and Tennessee 34-13 after another bye

Auburn had a bye week before playing an Ole Miss team that was coming off a 31-17 home win over LSU. Likewise, we have a bye week before hosting Auburn, who was coming off a 31-20 home win over Ole Miss. That's why we are currently 6-point favorites.

Ags online vs Auburn front 7 will be dictated by our ability to block the right guys. Physically we are bigger

Ags DLine vs Auburn o line I think this come down to discipline once again we are the more physically imposing group. I think we get considerable pressure on Nix but he is a slippery sucker so we have to tackle.

Nix is the more experienced qb but he is playing on the road.

I can't remember last game, did J. Peevy play? I hope he's ready. He was playing with maximum effort.

Nix? Holiday bowl treatment. But one is enough, save two for the Heisman candidate.

our OL draw
our DL win

if Calzada stays in pocket, and our DL maintain a controlled rush so Elko can blitz effectively, we win.

LBs and AJ are going to be HUGE…..

I think Our OL HAS the Advantage, as they are going to push those light weights around. We are actually getting lineman with some pretty good footwork and speed. Possibly will have some decent holes for the run game. Similar to the SC game. Lots of 5-15 yard runs. Lots of 1st Downs.

Auburn has some Scrappy dudes playing under Derek Mason, but I think they will be out manned.

Bobo has Nix playing with a lot of confidence. Bixby is going to also need lots of attention. But I think OUR Front 7 will be up to the challenge.

12th Man will be LOUD too!

Both Auburn and Ole Miss looked good last night.

Ag defense is probably better.

Got both those games at 50/50.

I give us the slightest of edges over Auburn because we are at home. Pretty much a tossup game imo. Two good teams and both improving as the season goes. Not sure if the bye week helps or not. Depends on how knicked up the Ags were after SCAR.

Their NT weighs 330. The others are lighter. LSU had a lot of success pre-Aranda playing 1 gap with lighter and faster DL.

That said, I would love it if the above quote proves correct.

We need to put him on the ground a lot but not in the hospital. He needs to be good to go for the Iron Bowl.

Auburn runs lots of misdirection especially Bo. Our spy has his work cutout for him but I like him holding Nix to a dull day. We win going away if that happens. They have a very good RB too so #1 needs a big game and he is capable of doing that. We finally gonna kick W E azz on Kyle.

Some of you guys our downplaying the talent of our OL. Foster and Fatheree are future first rounders. Their footwork is amazing for true freshmen and they have NFL size right now. Kenyon and War Daddy are true warriors and will play on Sundays. The only weak link is the grad transfer from Tennessee. He's probably a UDFA. War Daddy is a late round pick and the other three will go in the first if they stay healthy. Book it.
