LSU folks were ignorant to think that Ed O's great coaching ability is what won that title. He inherited that team and rode them to a payday (just like Barry Switzer did with Dallas).

He's just a toxic coach, it happens everywhere he goes.

He's a lesser Urban Meyer. Less success, quicker meltdown.

Didn't O bring in the NFL play caller? Seems like he made some great executive decisions to assist that NC. He didn't handle success well and is paying the price both personally and professional.

The Saban effect. LSU will never be stable again. Hell no I don't want Coach O but you can't set a precedent of firing someone a year and after a title. Not without a scandal.

High risk? With the money coaches make the only real risk most of them are taking is figuring out where their mail has to be delivered every few years.

Not all are Head Coaches. The rest are HC wannabes and are at risk...big time. Not a game I would choose.

Lazy take.

That championship was won 3.5 years into tenure as the head man on campus. He assembled most of that coaching staff and he recruited nearly every meaningful player on that roster.

Coach Orgeron's coaching ability is widely respected which is why he keeps getting great jobs despite his personal issues. Unfortunately for him, tough off the field issues tripped him up.
