This level of "act like you have been there before" has been around forever. My dad played for TCU back in the 50's the first time they were good. They ran out of "laundry money" stipend cash from TCU and one of his buddies said "lets go to the Louisiana Hayride and see Elvis Presley play". Dad said we're broke and his buddy said lets just go. They did. BS'd their way in to the show, then as it ended, his buddy said "let's go meet Elvis". So, they acted like they've been there before but Security was "tight" (see young ones, Elvis was a growing big star and somewhat controversial back then). When they BS's their way to the last gatekeeper, my dad's buddy started a calm ramble of where he and Elvis had played and goofed off before and the gatekeeper's arm came down. This all took a while. They walked up to the room with Elvis' name on it and knocked. "Come in", and they did. Elvis looked somewhat surprised "who in the heck are you?". They told the truth right off. Elvis told them "well, you wanted to get here, so lets talk..." They sat down and had about a 10-15 minute visit with Elvis. Just country boys talking 'bout being a kid, growing to a music star, being college football players on a good team, etc. Elvis was very personable considering the circumstances dad said. Everyone shook hands and wished the best with smiles, and they walked out with no issues.
