Nobody would be able to stockpile developmental players. The free market would eventually self-correct.

The old rules did not allow the market to self-correct. DKR would sign a huge class. DKR then controlled them. They could not transfer and play elsewhere without DKR signing a waiver.


Bingo. There are stories of Royal offering damn near every kid in the state that was good to keep them from going elsewhere. He could have fielded 2-3 good teams with all the talent they had. Once the limits were put in, they dropped off pretty significantly. Yes they were good, but not nearly as deep as they once were.
