It was way way way overly optimistic to think that the team with a fish qb or unproven backup and inexperienced oline could challenge for anything.

That's on Jimbo for not tempering that.

The problem with these idiotic preseason rankings is they always get people's hopes up. I had no illusions about this season. The minute I saw that offensive line and our quarterbacks, I knew this was a rebuilding year.

We lose our RB1,TE1, and most of the Dline. So maybe the year after that!

It's year 4. And we're not even sure if King will be able to shake off his rust. Injuries like this can be deal breakers. Also, there is zero guarantee weigman will deliver as a true fish.

We are in a crisis. At least acknowledge that.

So why the big drop off? Is it recruiting? Was there a lot of swing and misses? Or is it player development? Consistent programs don't see-saw continuously back and forth from close to .500 to 9 to 10 wins.
