They have 39 RS-JR, SR, and RS-SR on the roster.

Benefit of having recruited players who weren't good enough for the next level and covid for them to play 5-6 years of college football.

Pittman got lucky.

Eh, Pittman did a great job of convincing them to stay because they loved playing for him. A couple of them might have been late round draft picks.

Experience matters a lot, just look at what Kevin Kopps as a 24 year old did to the most talented players in college baseball last season.

Good point but to be fair, Kopps did the same in the minors this summer finishing with a 0.61 ERA. So it wasn't just his age. That weird pitch he has is just damn hard to hit.

Having an extraordinary amount of super seniors is definitely a key factor in their quick rise. Experience cannot be replicated, but Sam Pittman has changed the culture of the Arkansas football team. Under Chad Morris, Arkansas not only went 0-14 in SEC games, but they went 2-4 against Group of 5 teams. 3 of those losses were at home, including a 44-17 drubbing by North Texas on 9/15/18 and a 45-19 trouncing by Western Kentucky on 11/9/19. Most of Arkansas' current players had experienced these embarrassing home losses.

Last year, Arkansas exceeded even the most optimistic expectations by finishing 3-7 in SEC games, despite drawing Florida and Georgia as their additional cross-division opponents in a 10-game SEC schedule. Their losses to Auburn, LSU, and Missouri were by a combined 7 points. I predict Arkansas will finish 8-4 or 9-3 with likely losses to Georgia, Ole Miss, and Alabama, and a tossup at LSU.

Not sure about Ole Miss. They really had Matt Corral's number last year with 6 interceptions. Those same guys are there. Bound to get into his head a little bit watching the game film in preparation.

Speaking of Corral and heads, maybe it's not such a good idea to poke the bear.

Does it really matter?
They stayed, because they believe in the Program and their coaches. Everyone ought to leave going out a winner.

Fact is we only managed to score 10 points. I thought we needed at least 3 TD's to win.
Lucky Guess. Maybe.

IMO Barry Odom is doing a damn good job with their D. Their coverages were well mascaraded. Enough to confuse lots of young players.

Arkansas has definitely gotten fortunate that Texas and A&M both started young QBs. Odom has proven that his scheme is really difficult for freshmen to throw against, just like Matt Corral last year looking awful against it. Knowing where to hit the soft spots and having experienced WRs who know where to sit in the zone are really important.

More excuses for the debacle we saw on the field yesterday…

Jimbo has had 4 recruiting classes. Plenty of time to have a QB and OL ready. Especially an OL. All that said, you call plays to your team's strength. Run the ball.
Three full classes. And he clearly felt pressure to win early hence sticking to a known with Mond. We had a super senior year from a total talent perspective last year. We hoped our fall off wouldn't be as much but King going down and the new OL progression and injuries definitely impeded our best outcome.

Still a lot of games to play. I think we will continue to get better. Or bitter.

Georgia will be a very humbling experience for them, and frankly it's one that is needed. The media is running wild with Arkansas projections.

Georgia played Arkansas in 2020 too. Arkansas was holding their own until Georgia woke up and realized they were actually playing in a game, they had so overlooked them.

Kirby won't make that mistake again. He knows he has to have his team ready to play a tough game. But Georgia has too much talent and depth. They can wear Arkansas down eventually.
Hell, we were wearing them down until that stupid interception absolutely killed what little momentum we were generating.

Super seniors are the reason this year's football season has been so crazy so far. They are a major boon to any team.
