This is not just Kyle Field.

At Globe Life Field, the people working the concession stands were people from Houston who were bussed up and housed just to work the game.

Why would anyone need to buy food at a night game?
You've had all day to eat at a tailgate and everyone knows how bad it sucks at the stadium already.

Sounds like really bad decision making.
Yeah, I'm amazed at the people who go expecting a dining experience. I eat before I go - and stick with beer.

Totally agree, north end zone first deck only had one full service concession. The crowd at that one concession was total chaos.

However one upside is the new drink system, seems like a revenue loss but good for the fans.

you mean, IF you were able to get a drink (waiting line 30 min plus! and IF you dont mind nit having ice in your cup. Total **** show.

Bjork addressed this: they are having trouble hiring enough people to cover the game.

This is the kind of BULLCRAP BUREAUCRATIC CYA RESPONSE someone ought to be pilloried for!

Hey Bjork! Pay students an "outrageous" $50/hr $250 for 5 hours.

100 extra employees could service the entire stadium and cost you $25,000. To make 50,000 people happy customers.

and guess what Bjork? you would have sold about $200,000 more of soda - EASY!!

quit the bull**** and FIX IT!

Turn over bathrooms and concessions to Buc-cees, win-win

Never use the concessions. Over priced, poor quality and long lines.

Really thinking that outside of the suites or club levels, concessions need to go back to the basics. Sliced pizza, pretzels, hot dogs, nachos, and a nachos supreme. Peanuts, popcorn, hot dogs and soft drinks.
And not expect a 5 star dining experience. It's a ball game.

How did you not see the cheese? Eyes closed fantasizing while getting down on that dog?

The cheese is inside the hotdog. It was more like a spicy sausage dog than a hotdog. And they were 'cooking' them so fast that it was still cold in the middle.

Food service was abysmal. Lines were 30+ min long. I missed the flyover trying to get my wife a refillable soda for $7.99. Half of the refill stations were out of product before the game began. How is that even possible. Before the game began they were out of peanuts. The north end zone sucks for food and drink.

I definitely agree with everyone that upping the prices to ration the need for more workers is a great solution.

I was told the Best Services was short 400 people. I'm not sure if they cover concessions, or just gates, ushers, etc.

You guys didn't really stand in line 30 minutes for a drink, did you? Why didn't you turn around when you saw the line?

But free refills for rest of season.

My buddy already killed their profit drinking all their sweet tea.
Actually only for single game use. I asked the question and they showed me the footnote on the flier.

Will see if they enforce.

Game tip if you want the 24 oz version with an adult beverage... buy the 24 oz soda and a "shot" - you mix your own. They cannot serve you a 24 oz mixed drink, but can do it that way. Taught several folk behind us when they saw me do it.

It was a minimum of 30-40 min wait in our section at every food vendor regardless of the time of the game.

This is what we get when some 12th man board members start calling the shots for concessions. I will not name names but I was at the presentation many years ago when they were bragging about Levy and their management plan for Kyle. First class food was promisised. Well it has been a disaster , over priced, poor quality, etc. This is what happens when we pass up Texas companies and contract with a Chicago firm. Their overheads is very high and the 12th man is getting a percentage of every item sold.
greg.w.h

And there was an immediate payment at the beginning representing the revenue. Sounds a little like Chicago machine spoils in fact. Not that I think that is what actually happened.

I do remember never buying anything at the game in the 80s. And my scholarship sponsor only occasionally ordering from food services for their suite. I used to be able to name any entree at any cafeteria in the nation after three years at Sbisa!!! Bonus skills.

Eat before you go. Carry in the largest bottle of water you can. Use the money you save to purchase a new Lexus.

Watch the whole game.

When will people learn to eat before the game outside of the stadium. Goes for all sporting events. Couldn't tell you the last time I spent money at a concession stand.

I have talked with a local franchisee who got to be in Kyle - Levy takes 35% profit off the top - forcing them to Raise their prices jus to break even. It sucks!

You know they are called concessions because the government grants a limited license specifically to keep profits up, right??

There is a unique opportunity to highlight a local brand and the challenge is to manage scale and sell through to make a decent return. Levy obtained the concession via an up front royalty payment in effect.

I don't understand why fans that spend thousands of dollars are so against a government-provided facility making money that creates the revenue that pays in part for the entertainment they're watching. If it were called tye Texas Lottery and you rolled each time on a wheel of fortune that went from potato chips to ribeye steaks would you feel better about funding athletics???

It's Kyle Field, not the Sahara. You don't NEED something to drink - you WANT something. And if I was going to miss 30 minutes of the game to have a wittle dwink, I'd pass. And I'd make my 4 year old pass too.

The sweet tea coming out of the dispenser in the Zone Club was so bad it was not drinkable. Dr Pepper was mostly water so not much flavor and even that was gone early in 3 Q.

I guess this ended with Levy taking over from Aramark...

Do student and off campus organizations no longer staff concession stands at all of the events?

Doesn't help with inventory, but that would solve staffing problems.

No, they took away the concessions from all of the volunteer organizations when they went with Levy. I sure miss our 4-H club that was in the 3rd deck. We got to know them through the years.
