Arkansas will become a nobody in the new SEC kind of a welfare school.
At best a fat kid club for O line or last chance u in transfer portal.
Should offer to join BDF 12.

Yeah i'm sure they'll gladly take being relevant in two of the three big sports especially baskeball.

Once A&M passes them in the football series in another decade or so, that will be quite a turnaround.

The people laughing at Arakansas on this thread will be rooting for them when they face tu this year. For shame.

Heres hoping they make a good comeback with a new coaching staff and keep the SEC West in high regards but still manage to lose a close yet convincing game against us.

Why can we not laugh at Arkansas AND root for them against Texas?

I laughed at k state when they lost to Arkansas State, but I still pulled for them to beat texas.

Arkansas should have access to enough money to have top notch facilities and high coaching salaries and recruiting budgets. If that is true, then if they have a great HC and OU, t.u. and we have ineffective coaching for a stretch, then they might be able to win big for a while.

Arkansas is caught in the "Nebraska" conundrum.

in that they have to recruit and recruit successfully out of state.

and the Hogs have struggled mightily to do that while OU, A&M, etc.., have been very good.

and the task is not getting any easier

Vandy will be phased out before Arkansas becomes irrelevant.

With the admission of OU, academia is not a feature that's desired. We're looking for broadcast dollars and nothing more. Bring athletic success and your academic purpose doesn't matter

while the Hogs are 0-9 vs. A&M since 2012...the Hogs are just 1-6 vs. Missouri since 2012.

the SEC expansion has been a disaster for the Razorbacks

Oh c'mon. Petrino ended and they have been left in shambles since then.

The SEC is not a debate club conference, it's an athletics conference. So, yeah, it kinda makes sense that the largest revenue sport, the one that carries almost all of the others all by itself, would be a much higher priority than academic achievement.

Not to mention that the addition of tu + OU increases our % of AAU schools and probably improves the average academic rating of the conference.

Arkansas has plenty of money coming in to their athletic department and they have plenty of enthusiasm from student body/former students/boosters/etc etc. They'll be back eventually.

Rank those schools by athletic revenue from 1-5.

Ain't that the truth.

Porky will remain MOR with an occasional upset here and there. As much as we all enjoy beating them now, they, like Carolina, will beat us at some point in time. I do see Porky getting stronger down the road , maybe 6-7 wins a year consistently but nothing more than that. Carolina on the other hand will not get any better than where they are.

Arkansas in the sec is like tech was in the big12

They can have some success but they have a ceiling and will never win the conference

The closest tgry came was 1998 when they win the west while bama, auburn and LSU were all down but lost to Tennessee in the sec championship game

The dynamic in the sec is completely different now, and Arkansas just has too many big boys to climb over now to get to the top of the mountain

I sell on this take. I think Pittman isn't near Saban, Jimbo, Kirby, or Mullen in skill yet, but I think he wants to win more than anyone. I think he's gonna grow, get good assistants, and put them back together.

Their location sucks. Not enough talent in state. Oklahoma and lsu are already the token out of Texas teams to raid Texas talent.. They just have no recruiting base for top tier guys.. They are battling the tcus of the world for kids.. I think they benefit a little though if those middle tier power 5 schools get put in a non power conference... Then they'd be the next best option behind a&m, lsu, ou, and texas for dfw kids. Still prob will usually suck though.

something has also happened to Arkansas high school football.

Darren McFadden's senior year at North Little Rock was 2004.

in the 17 years since...the state has not produced an equivalent superstar talent

No they won't. They just need a good coach who doesn't take joyrides with coeds which by all appearances they have. It's funny how quickly people forget how Patrino whipped our asses very recently.

I thought Pittman had them playing with effort last year and they lost a few close games. Much better than I thought they would play and he also signed the 25th best class in 2021. I can see them improving a little more this year and maybe even get to a bowl game.

I don't see them being a powerhouse but I doubt they're going to stay bad forever.

They are good enough to beat good teams on a good day. I don't think they are likely to play in SEC championship games anytime soon but they still have enough athletes to ruin a whole season for someone like A & M. They also generally give us their best shot.

Imo, the refs robbed them v. Auburn last yr.
