They would be a better fit in the PAC12.
And if a better situation comes along they will bolt the conference or help kill it to make a super conference.

College football isn't going to be the same. It's all in a move to consolidate power. The SEC is just getting ahead of it. Is what it is.

I was talking to a t sip at church this morning and he said, "you'll never hear a longhorn doing the SEC chant. Cheering for a conference is stupid". I just walked off thinking the SEC has no idea what they are going to be dealing with.
No chance Sips ever ever chant. Zero chance. But I bet it will be deafening every fourth quarter when they are down four touchdowns on the road.

The SEC letting tu become a member reminds me of the fable about the scorpion and the turtle. The scorpion wanted to cross the River and asked the turtle to help. I figured discussions would go there.
This guy is the real deal not like the idiots they hired before, and his communication ability scares me because he's not an idiot. This won't be a 20 year coach that they make statues of, his tenure won't last nearly that long - but his departure will be due to an offer from the actual NFL not the ncaanfl-lite. Just listening to the idiot mensa wannabees they had before and comparing that with what this guy is saying, it is going to be a different next 5 years.
There will be those who find little problems with him as a head coach and say it isn't so, but I'll bet season tickets (virtual) that he takes their offense and improves it by 50 ranking positions. Of course, that wouldn't be tough because they sucked for so long, but this guy is not going to lose games for them like Charlie and Tom did.

The sips are that rich kid that everyone, but their own family, hates to be around. They're the one you don't tell about the party, but somehow they always find out about it and show up, acting like they planned the entire thing. They're that one, who always gets their way, because they're so freaking spoiled. They're that one who always has to have what the cool kids have, but they're the last to get it. They're that one who ruins it for everyone because they don't get their way. They're texas and get ready folks, because they are "BACK, again!!"

sips fit in the sense that you have the old money fraternity/sorority class at certain SEC schools among alumni and students. As we know that's generally a small portion of fans overall at all schools.
Outside of that, there's just not the same fit. Many SEC programs have broad followings as they have been and continue to be the primary football team for a significant portion of their state for decades. Many of those states have never had a NFL team. Point is those schools' fanbases are beyond just alumni and students, but the loyalty runs much deeper than the 't shirt' type of fan.
From here, take your pick of whichever area you want where there are differences, be it southwest v south from a cultural perspective, liberal v conservative, and so on. Let's not forget that A&M is the wealthiest and most elite (AAU) institution from a research and academic perspective to ever be a member of the SEC.
Last, not sure it matters as much anymore, conference organization and alignment is all about broadcast ratings/streaming monetization and less about 'fit'. Back in the day the old SWC made so much sense because there was definitely a shared culture within Texas, more southwestern than southern. We Ags at least can understand our fellow SEC fanbases and get along. I don't see that with the sips.

Texas fits better in the Pac-12 than in the SEC. They will lose almost all of their away SEC games. With 9-game SEC schedules, they will be lucky to win even 4 SEC games each year.
It's a bad fit from many angles. All that makes it work is increasing the number of potential viewers through expansion.
Conferences are no longer about any real shared fit outside of people wanting to watch games.

Sounds entitled. Id liken it to being insistent that you be the exclusive school from the 2nd most populous state forever and, if not, then you are getting screwed over.

Didn't we help the inevitable death of the Big 12 10 years ago when a better situation came along?
What about the SEC rules on visitor tickets? Won't some sips lose their highly coveted seats?
