Wasn't OU being discussed as a potential SEC member back in 2011 when we were joining? I think they were, then Mizzou was chosen due to the attachment to tu

OU wants this move more than the sips.

They are giving up an easy path to a conf champ and playoff spot, seems dumb

I cant blame ou for wanting out of the B12. I do question why they want to be partners with tu after witnessing tu screw over a dozen conference mates in the past 20 years

OU knows they are the next Nebraska without Texas and the Texas market...of course their lips are affixed to the genitals of Texas.

Today's winner for the General Board Burrito Lottery is:

OU will gain a lot more money in the SEC but lose relevance. I would want a conference network over the longhorn network.

tu will lose money in the short term in hopes to gain national relevance by playing successful SEC teams

OU isn't a valuable program on their own. Yes Slive would have taken them with us in 2011 but Boren put the kibosh on that. So Mizzoo took that spot.

And I wouldn't have had an issue with OU joining in an above board move back then.

This sneaking in under cover of night and throwing their lot in with the sips means they are now just cowards, liars and cheats to their business partners, just like the sips have always been.

They steal much more than land now.

They only care about keeping the red river shootout. Nothing more, nothing less

ou recognizes that the BDF is untenable in the long run. They have been losing ground in revenue for a while relative to the SEC and know it will only widen. They also know that they cannot recruit the elite defensive players being on the outside looking in.

The great shame is that they did not just accept the offer back in 2011. Mizzou was never a good cultural fit and has only gotten worse.

It is not coincidental that the playoff format is expanding. OU is an 8-4/9-3 team yearly in the SEC. However, I bet they have been telling all their recruits that they will be in the SEC. Would explain how much better they are recruiting this year as to last (plus the payments).

I think state politics got in the way. It will be interesting to see how it plays out from this point on. OU has wanted out of the Big 12 for a long time.

That will soon change once Texas doesn't drive the conference. That's why OU wants to go there.

For being bitter rivals? They got in bed fast. They could've done this with any other school. They had the leverage to keep RR game, & stick it to them. I won't see them as rivals again. I'm really shocked OU wanted texas with them.

On paper it makes sense for the SEC. But for OU? That's the biggest shock to me actually.

And that stinks too. There will be so many freakin' rematches and trash games with that expansion, the money and interest will drop dramatically. Throw in players opting out of those games and the resulting mess will be a money loser.

The bowl system will be nearly killed.

I've called OU the gimp for a few years now and this exactly shows it. They may win on the field, but they'll fold and follow the sips guiding on a leash and be grateful to be there.... silently.

Have heard this more than a few times, including related to this years much anticipated matchup with Nebraska. BlowU was tired of the 11:00am Big Noon Kickoff.

I think ou is getting out of the shadow of the sips and are wanting to become relevant again.

The good news is the sooners will be done making the playoffs once they join the sec. They don't realize that only having to get by Iowa state to win the big 12 and make it to the playoffs is not the same as going through the sec.

The sips have only once since 2010 lost less than 4 games in a season and that was last season which was shortened and they still lost 3.

We left a decade ago. I don't blame them for doing the same. Really funny to read the outrage.

This is the primary reason this year's media tale of the sips returning to relevance is far fetched. The last thing they are about is facing tougher competition and being in a conference in which they are just another program.

Oklahoma does seem pretty complicit in deciding if they want to join a new conference.

Neither one of them want it, their hand was forced by economic realities. Just like when the SWC went under.

I feel like some people on this board are giving the longhorns way too much credit through this whole process and it looks a little pathetic.

I was watching "Of mice and men" last night and ou reminds me of Lennie. Big and strong but lacking intelligence, they follow the capable but incompetent George. Lennie beware....George has one hand on your shoulder and a gun in the other.

ou and tu will eventually catch up and get SEC type players, just like we did. I just hope the head start we've had pays off and we stay ahead for a while.
