Just curious how many of y'all believe what we're reading and hearing (thumbs up) and who doesn't (thumbs down).

That's my thumbs up.

Cause I'm certainly not happy that those lying, cheating, egotistical, double dealing dildos will be joining us.

Being happy and accepting that it is going to happen are not the same thing.

I'm not happy about it but at this point, I don't know how it doesn't happen...so I have accepted that it will...

This ain't your grand daddy's A&M. This is a new ball game centered around the almighty dollar.

This is all that matters now.

It's what we get when profit overtakes meaning. Outsiders and networks only want to see our Thanksgiving rivalry returned when it doesn't affect them in the slightest. It's just another opportunity to throw us under the bus whenever we don't perform well.

I want OU and tu to wallow in the Big 12.

But what I want and what is going to happen are different things and the latter is something I can't do anything about.

So all I'm gonna do as always is root for the Aggies and eff everybody else.

True. We have money. . . lots and lots of money, but . . .

We still have the poor good ole boy leadership

I still have a lot of questions about things that don't make sense.

1. According to all the numbers being thrown around, Texas and OU would be bringing 90% of the Big 12's TV revenue with them, which seems overinflated (supposedly around $300M)

2. They haven't even given their 18 months notice to the Big 12 yet.

3. Big 12 still owns Tier 1 and Tier 2 media rights into 2025.

4. Texas and OU would still owe around $80M each to the Big 12 if they get out after 2024, and would likely pay an insane amount more if they leave before then, unless at least 2 other members agree to leave at the same time.

5. They're giving up guaranteed spots in the CFP for a much harder schedule and playoff path.

6. There's been no confirmation the sips would give up their $15M a year from the LHN.

To be honest, I am struggling a bit to accept it.

Not happy about it, but I have to believe that its basically a done deal at this point.

I'm still secretly wishing after they reached out to the conference about joining, they were baited into quitting the BDF only to be rejected by the SEC.

Doesn't this also affect FCS schools like Prairie View? Those games serve more than one purpose.

It's been this way for at least 30 years. Yah, maybe A&M didn't care about money back in the 40s.

Still wonder if road blocks are coming. Outrage by Austin professors who don't like the SEC? Legal action by big xii and their remaining 8 against Texas, ou, and SEC? Seems like something will pop at some point very soon. These things never seem to go off without any opposition. But, obviously all of the media says it's a done deal, so what do I know?

The legal action and remaining time in the GOR is the one thing that puzzles me still.

I don't know what to believe because people are saying contradictory things, like
  • A&M admin did/didn't know
  • Snaky did/didn't keep all schools informed
  • Sips wanted the SEC, no it was OU
  • Started in last week/ 3 weeks ago, 2 years ago

But, I certainly don't relish having to endure more sip shenanigans.

Correct. In no way is seeking out a tougher schedule 'on brand' for the sips.

I still feel like it's too early to know but money talks, unfortunately.

This could all be, "Saban's wife was seen looking at houses in Austin" at this point.

The only reason that Texas and OU are posturing that they'd wait until 2025 until the media rights expire is because there's no reason to pay the penalty prematurely.

Right now all the other teams are scrambling to find landing spots too. If some or most do then the conference is dissolved and problem solved.

If A&M succeeds in staving it off then Texas and OU join one of the other conferences and the landing spots grow smaller.

I imagine most of the remaining teams would rather be in the other big 3 conferences than the BDF sans OU and Texas. Well except whomever is left holding the bag during relegation.

tu and OU would not have completely skipped last nights' B12 call if they didn't have assurance from SEC that they had the votes. That's way too big of a dick move to just "negotiate" a better B12 deal. That right there is the clearest evidence to me that this is a done deal.

I don't think the Big Ten would be talking to Kansas and Iowa State if they thought tu and OU were still on the market.

Meh. They either are making a play for Texas, OU, and ND or they're losers.

Have zero clue what's going on or what has transpired but could this be a bluff/negotiation tactic with another conference that they are really going to join up with?

It's not a done deal until it's a done deal. Tsips are fully capable of exposing who they are to the SEC brass before it's done and they could indeed torpedo it themselves.

The money arrangements are the key
Imo. If the $ are there then it likely gets done but I don't feel like the SEC members are going to take it up the backside to accommodate anyone because they simply don't have to. I remain unconvinced the business case is there for current SEC members. The fact that the tsips have lots of rich alumni doesn't matter, it's about the commercial arrangements between the conference members.

True. 'SEC wanted us but we're going independent, we're going ACC, PAC, BIG, whatever....'

Or the more likely 'we remain committed members of the Big XII-II+II Conference now that they've made us even more the most equal conference members'....

That's true. Scott thought he had a signed deal when he went to bed on a Sunday night. The next morning Powers told him to get lost.

But besides the Ags being righteously outraged, there is little pushback happening. Sips have been very quiet just slipping out so propaganda to gauge how things are going. They easily could get overconfident again and throw in a last minute demand that blows the deal up.

Their greed and need for more power than anyone else is just in the water on the 40 acres.

The rumor is it was only four SEC members that knew about it rather than the entire membership. Have no idea if that's true or not but I feel like word would have gotten out if it was really everyone except A & M. People are people and they struggle to keep secrets.

That's the other thing too. TCU, Tech, Baylor and their communities are going to be devastated. Their alum are obviously going to fight this.

A 16 team SEC means at least 9 conference games, which means FCS games and their payday to the little guy get dropped. Their alum could get involved too.

Then if this causes the creation of 4 Super conferences, the G5 schools will become even more irrelevant, potentially to the point where the Super 4 split from them and the NCAA entirely. UH, SMU, Rice, UTEP, UTSA, UNT, Texas State could all be devastated by this. Their alum may fight it too.
