Last time LHN and media issues prevented a deal. Now LHN would go away with move to SEC or any other conference. So why not the PAC12, where tu has always said they felt affiliated? Yes, I can see the decline of west coast football and football culture, but is it really that bad and did it change that quick? Or something else?

Pac 12, BDF, and Big barely played football last year due to Covids. They don't want to be stuck with states/schools that will completely give up football again.

That was 10 years ago. Deloss' wet dream was to be attached to the elite west coast schools at the time. Easier sell to the arrogant tu fanbase.

A lot has changed in 10 years. Pac is as weak as the Big 12. In the new era where your conference will be helping the recruiting efforts to give players the largest platform to earn $ off their NIL, priorities change.

Most of the students at Austin barely remember anything from when they played USC. That wasn't the case 10 years ago. Nothing the Pac 12 has done since then has worked.

Hear ya and agree. NIL made some kind of move almost mandatory. Recruiting, if not directly, is going to get a lot more expensive. Going to take a few years for all the NIL repercussions to shake out, but I think once NIL became reality, this move was underway.
