Woohoo the whole conference gets better while we are negatively impacted! Why should I give a flying fook about the sec being better at this point when they'd hose us like this.
How are we negatively impacted?
Recruiting?
Are we not recruiting against them already?
Do you not remember the days when A&M, tu and OU were in the same conference?
tu and OU got about 80% of the upper tier recruits, we got about 10% and the rest of them went to the SEC or maybe another Big XII school.
One of our advantages right now is that we are the ONLY team in Texas that is in the SEC and that plays a role to some degree (i'd argue a pretty signficiant one) among blue chip recruits. Giving up that advantage gets us what, exactly?
The fact of the matter is that if the dildos west of us and the cheaters north of us end up joining our conference - we go back to the status quo we suffered through all through the late 90's and up until 2011. Our momentum will be absolutley killed on recruiting, and we will be the proverbial historical Aggie program again in that we claim we want to sit at the table of the elites, but when we finally have the opportunity to do so - we shrink from the challenge and settle with being a middle of the pack program that occasionally has a good season and who will fall back into the battered wife syndrome of spending our existince focusing on nothing but trying to appease or one up tu instead of what we have been doing for the last several years - focusing on Texas A&M.
Cynical? Yep. But guess what - we have 115 years of this in our blood, and the last 10 years hasn't washed it out completely. We'll be back to the same old same old inside of 3 years. Book it.
I hear you man.
Like I said, I'm c/o 89 and lived through all that BS when most of the posters here were in diapers.
I hate the sips and color orange is not even allowed in my house.
I understand the SEC recruiting advantage. But here are some thoughts. I remember us dominating the sips and doing ok against the sooners, short period maybe. Where we fell off is when when RC didn't get the support to upgrade our facilities and got his ass handed to him by Stoops and Brown.
But I feel we're not the same aTm of the Big12. Our facility is second to none and let's see what we can do against these mofos. Yes sips are toxic. We all know. But can they really push around UF, UGA, LSU, TN, and the rest of the SEC? Man, if they can, more power to them.
But I don't think we're the same A&M and the sips will have the same leverage in the SEC.
