New Qb and OL will make it difficult in this league.

New QB, 4 new starting o-linemen, 2 big time players on defense needing to be be replaced. I like your optimism, but no way it happens this year.

I wish I shared your optimism.

Bama +300
Clemson +350
tOSU +400
ou +800
UGA +1000
LSU +2500
Ags +3300

Vegas does not expect us to beat Bama nor make the playoff.

It's good odds with a quality team and killer RB's and defense.

I KNOW we will be breaking in new players, but if we beat Bama at home, this schedule is very attractive.

I'm gonna take a shot... $$$

Or lemme say it another way... all the defenders are returning and I'm a Wrecking Crew fan....

So I'm all in

This is going to be awesome! JFF lost 2 games as a redshirt freshman behind THAT UNBELIEVABLE offensive line and now we are saying Haynes King is going to do even better! I can't wait!!

It would be interesting to see what the odds are on the field outside the top four you have listed. That is, the odd on any other team besides your top four winning the NC.

Don't say it that way, because it isn't true.

This.

This is actually what will keep our hopes alive. Obviously, we'll see growing pains in the offense, but the defense will be extremely experienced. It's not like our offense will be garbage either; we have a lot of raw talent there along with great coaching.

If our defense is consistently great and our offense is inconsistently great, then we still have a shot.

Pretty par for the course as far as attrition goes honestly. Bama is losing their entire offense and their OC, plus several great defensive players. Florida is losing just about every decent player they had, so think Cotton bowl minus Trask. Lots of SEC team have new coaching staffs, players transferring etc.

Outside of Mond, we're returning every yard gained and TD scored this year. And returning 20 of our two deep on defense, wouldn't write the season off yet.

Remember when there was no way of beating florida after losing to Bama and barely beating Vandy?

I knew a very successful high school coach that took a job with a program that hadn't been to the playoffs in 32 years and then proceeded to take his new team to the state semi-finals in just his third year.

I asked him what the biggest obstacle was he had to overcome to achieve success. He told me it was convincing the athletes that they could be winners after constantly hearing negativity and a loser's mentality from their friends, cousins, brothers, fathers and all the community that had either played and/or previously been around the program through all those mediocre seasons. Before he arrived, the athletes had already been convinced by all the negative comments that they too could never win.

Once he broke the cycle, the winning started and the program began to turn.

I feel the cycle was broken in 2020 for Texas Aggie Football. Jimbo has started to convince even the staunchest suffers of BAS that the Aggies can play at an elite level.

2021 will be the true test to show if our program has truly broken the cycle of mediocrity and is ready for the next step.

I, for one, am convinced we are ready for that next level and on the verge of greater things to come for Aggie Football.

I like your optimism, but I am expecting a 10-2 season with loses to Alabama on 10/9 and at LSU on 11/27. Our floor is 9-3, and our ceiling is 11-1. The season finale at Baton Rouge will probably decide 2nd place in the SEC West and potentially a NY6 bowl appearance.

According to vegasinsiders, today as of a minute ago:

LSU +2500
sips +3300
USC +3300

+4000
FL
ND
OR
UNC

+5000
Auburn
Cincy
Iowa St
Miami (FL)
okie lite
Penn St

They probably expect us to win 9-10 games, most likely losses being Bama and @LSU
LSU must go to Tuscaloosa, but gets home games vs FL, Auburn and us.

This is why I'd tap the brakes. We'll learn the hard way next year what a senior QB means to a team.

This is not par for the course, b/c the attrition is massed in the most important position group. The rule of thumb is that it is much easier to plug in a skill player than OL.

Bama returns 2 OL and brings hack Metchie, who lit us up. They always have a 5* RB waiting in the wing. They always have good WRs ready to go. They also return alot of defensive starters: 2/3 DL, 2/3 LBs, 4/5 DBs, plus a bunch from the 2 deep.

Nobody is writing off the season. But we probably do not beat Bama and probably do not make a playoff.

It all depends on the quality of the players leaving vs the ones replacing them. As good as our line was this year as a unit, none of them are considered exceptional talents individually, and all will likely be late round selections or UFAs at the next level.

Bama on the other hand has to replace 5 or more high first round talents, including 3 heisman candidates on offense alone. On defense add a couple more first round talents to the list with Surtain and Barrmore. O-lineman or not, I promise you we have a much better chance of replacing the production of our departures than Bama does theirs.

I'm with Turner. Our offense will be more explosive...Achane is just getting started and I expect we'll be able to stretch the field more with our receivers. QB is uncertain but I think whoever starts will be rounding into form by mid season. The defense should be stellar.

All that matters is the talent in the program currently. In all likelihood, theirs is significantly better.

I think we are still in the building phase. I'd like to see us win 10+, keep recruiting top 10 and the next 5-10 years should be fun as a fan. Winning the SEC should be our primary goal. The rest should fall into place.

The main problem is that winning the SEC is harder than getting into the CFP.

Correction. Winning the SEC West is harder than getting into the CFP.

So, you're saying A&M is back! I like it.

Gig'em.

Winning any conference is hard. The problem is that each conference needs parity. Watching Bama, Clemson, Ohio St and OU/ND/??? every year is not good. Expanding the playoffs doesn't solve this problem either.

College football needs the A&M, Georgia, North Carolina, Miami, Florida, Texas, Washington, USC, etc to step up and knockoff the big 3 at the conference level.

Glad to see someone else understands this.
Not to suggest we won't have a good year as I think we will.
But suggesting a national championship with an unproven quarterback and offense line that hasn't played together is quite a stretch.
