Dear Aggie family, thank you for your past and continued support for my son Cory Toombs over the years. I am sad to report that during his fight with cancer, the clock ran out. As you know we Aggies never lose. Cory passed away on 1/14/2021, though he is gone he was happy and courageous until the end. Cory was not only my son, but my personal hero. Throughout his life he touched so many people near and far. Per Cory's request he will be cremated, so there will be no funeral service. I will be organizing a celebration of life in his honor on 3/20/2021 starting at 1pm at 2352 Bates St. Longview, TX 75602 for all those that would like to attend. It will also be streamed live. In preparation for this occasion I have set up a GoFundMe for donations or gifts of love for those that would like to donate. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I don't ever post on here but I have to on this one. Sorry to hear about your son. I lost my father 13 yrs ago after he battled it for 3 yrs. I understand what you mean by personal hero. Your family will always be in our hearts and prayers. Once again I'm sorry to hear of his passing, God Bless.

Ja'mar, I am so sorry for your loss. In an ideal world no parent would ever have to mourn the loss of their child. I lost my 24 y/o son, Brandon, 10 years ago unexpectedly 5 days before Christmas. He was also my best friend.

The years have helped me not think of my loss very minute of the day, but there are times I still am overwhelmed by grief. A wise man told me in those moments, I should realize that is when Brandon is closest to me again. Whether that is literally, spiritually, or metaphorically, I have found that thought to be comforting and help resolve the grief. One thing I know from experience, is that grief does not resolve in solitude. It only resolves with communication with those who care and understand.

Another thing that I believe with all of my heart and faith is that some good will come from the tragedy. We will probably never understand the reason why this happened until we are in a different realm. The other thing I know from experience is that the love never dies. I believe in the end it's all that really matters. God is love.
