Auburn 2017. Look again. You've ignored this several times.

You ended up being right but their decision broke with their historical precedent of NOT ignoring conference championships.

The rationale for not giving ND a pass on this one was even stronger because they got lucky with all the Clemson personnel losses in round 1.

The selection committee states that in order for a team to get in without a conference championship, they must have otherwise be a clearly top team. The yr Auburn didn't get in after winning the conference was the yr bama got in at 4...and won it all. We aren't that team. Neither is ND but I understand the argument for ND over us. I don't understand the Ohio state over us decision.

I think all of us are very passionate about our team. I too was getting agitated with they those who turned out to be correct, for losing faith in they system. I hate having to admit that I was naive in thinking the committee would follow it's mandate. I apologise to all of those who said I was crazy, or foolish, turns out you were right

I never said we were.far and away better than Notre Dame, I said they got thier shot yesterday and lost. Nothing will change with thier team between yesterday and January 1st.

So did we

And we lost by 28 pts

We need to have a class on understanding a calendar. We lost is October. They lost literally yesterday. It's just not that hard to understand

So what do you think would have happened if we had to play bama twice? ND wasn't punished for having to play a conference title game....can't blame the committee for not punishing them.

If Georgia was in our shoes they would of gotten in. This is a joke but the media loves a blue blood. We must continue to win to bypass the obvious ploy to keep us at bay even though we are a better team than Quasimodo and his goons.

It isnt. A loss is a loss.. The timing of it is irrelevant.

You cant say a horrible loss is less horrible because it happened earlier....i'll say it again, us and ND were basically identical in terms of resume with the exception that ND actually played in their conference championship game
I understand and respect the committee not punishing them for that

I told the younger fans yesterday. Not that I am a dinosaur or anything, but Notre Dame has always had preferential treatment.

Would we get to play Bama at home with them without their QB and three defensive starters?

But it's not supposed to be, and that was the point of the new system. They proved today that they are just a new incarnation of the old system.

Yeah.

But in the real world, like this system, "supposed to be" is often a lie.

Actions, not words.

Without a real playoff, not this CF Invitational, it will continue to be BS like this.

Amy discussion from the talking blowhards about how close it was, we just missed out by a smidge, should be seen as a call for a legit 8 team playoff.
Bunkhouse96

The purpose of this system was to put the best teams in the playoffs at the end of the season, knowing teams grow during the year. If you think A&M is the same team from week 2 I don't know what to tell you.

The CFP allegedly has said they've done that in the past. Why stop no?

Institutional bias.

There's no evidence that the Big Ten is better than the BDF or that the BDF is better than the AAC this year...of that ND's schedule isn't a joke in a basketball league with 1 good team who was without their top talent when they played ND. Oh, and recency counts. And has counted in the past.

Pretty easy to call this really given teams ahead of us. Even football is political. Sad.

One wonders if Clemson would have put a few more TDs if it would have mattered. I mean how bad do you have to lose to playoff team before you are out?

Eyeball test. Our game or ND game. We were way more competitive.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Again, I don't know and we never will now. Had the committee done the right thing we would have been tested and seen if we had grown enough to win it all. What we DO know is Notre Dame is NOT good enough to win it all, that was proven yesterday. We might get run out of the stadium by Clemson as well, but now we will never know.

LOL if you think any system they come up with is intended to actually solve any of the problems.

people just got sick enough of the old bowl system and ITS OBVIOUS bias that they figured out a new new to perpetuate the bias that would shut the complainers up for a little while.

Its just a new set of smoke and mirrors. anyone who thought different was kidding themselves and naive.

just like politics college football has been solely about money for the past 60 years.

I think we deserve to be where we are, but barely. Take away the point differential of the pick six in the Bama game, and I think we have a better case. That was probably a 7-14 point swing in that game. We lose 45 to 31 to Bama and the argument is much stronger. I'm just happy we're in the conversation and not just some random Coastal Carolina type argument. 2020 will be an asterisk, especially if somehow tOSU or ND somehow defy the odds and get a natty. More realistically, I don't think we're quite good enough to take down both Clemson and Bama in consecutive games, so the odds of us getting a blowout embarrassment would have been higher. That said, there's no doubt we are a top 10 team, perhaps a solid showing in the bowl game gives us higher considerations in the future. Like in the next couple years, soon.

People and reporters bitoched about the BCS because computers don't "care" about emotions and feelz, and could not lobby them into a result. This is exactly why we need the BCS computers. I never have liked the idea of a "committee" of people that have human biases, and can be swayed one way or the other by peers, $$$$, or whatever.

I originally wanted to see the BCS system with computers used to set the bracket, which would remove a lot of the issues above, but again, $$$$ and feelz *(read write easy stories and get your name associated with the traditional power houses. Not the real ones, the traditional ones. No one wants to write a "big story" of Coastal Carolinas and wait for it...The Texas A&Ms. They want to write their big story on the same teams that all the big reporters/writers have written about. It feelz better. Every hear the phrase ".....where college football needs them, and they deserve to be....."? I have, too many times. That is a commentator stating basically someone deserves to be on/at top of college football because they are "better" than everyone else based on history, not what they have done recently against modern competition.

It's all a sham, They tried to keep Clemson out, but Clemson forced their way in because they could not be denied, via undefeated, conference champion seasons. With the current line up, if the Ags would have played Bama in the title game, and Bama gives them the close loss, ND and tOSU get in anyway, but with a "closer" feel.

Bring back the BCS/computer system to set the top "whatever" teams the playoff is set for. Until then, it is all garbage.
"Green" is the new RED.

1st of all this is 2020. The same analytics and historical conclusions are out the door.

This is an EYE TEST, perseverance type of season.

We had HAD More Positive Press than we've had in decades. OK maybe JFF's Fish Year.

But we FAILED THE BAMA EYE-TEST. That was coming off of the Game Opening Cluster-truck performance against Vandy. We were at the bottom of the PR barrel.

Also Missouri, Ole Miss, Georgia and Fla ALL had lost to Bama by FEWER Points than we did.

Yea, our Defense came around, and so did the running game. Our passing game was always the question. Which QB was going to show up. But IMO, which Receivers was going to counted on was a far greater question. Man, Imagine what our season would have been like with Chappy healthy all year. Those Big, Fast Receivers that Can beat the defender and go long is really what's missing from our EYE TEST.

I'm not going to separate a very successful season from a reach disappointment.
Bunkhouse96
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I am disappointed I the committee not the team or season. I have grown use getting over disappointment quickly, and can't wait to win out bowl game. I hope the team avoids the #5 jinx and proves that we belong.
