My vote goes out to Cow Hop too, but man......no love for a Freddy Burger around here?

The original FatBurger was pretty solid too

You read my mind. Freddy with the dreads. Fat Burger way under rated, Cow Hop is the King.

DSP in our time (late 80's) was an oven, a pinball machine and a minimum 45 minute wait. The operator told us he was a grad student and that he funded his education with the business. The burgers were great, but he might have made more money (from us) on the beer and pinball while we waited.

Disclaimer: That was a long time ago, possibly only the memory that the burgers were awesome is accurate.

Fat burger.. only bc they delivered. Have absolutely no recollection how it actually tasted, but after 12 Keystone Lights I'm sure it did it's job. Bevo Buster is all I remember.

Summer of 73 I think, Der Weinerschnitzel had 12 dogs for $1.

Made a few trips that summer. Also the summer that Scandia I was framed up.

Class of '73, limited options at that time but agree with above but don't forget the Handy Burger across the street at Northgate (otherwise known as the "**** hut") that was great for a late night run. Not a great burger but easily accessible

Yeah, that's my favorite too. Pic posted above. The building is demolished to make way for condos or something. I loved their Philli cheese steak and regular Fat Burger.

There was a large life size cut out of Troy Aikman near the door, remember that?

In the '76 to '78 timeframe there was a hole in wall on Northgate named "Dead Solid Perfect" . Otherwise known as DSP. Picnic tables and a grill set up that made massive burgers.
Was there the exact same time frame and agree with you on DSP

The "McGangbang" burger is one of McDonald's most famous "secret menu" items. And for good reason! It combines two of the best items from the dollar menu into one perfect burger. Simply order a McDouble and a McChicken. The McChicken Sandwich is placed directly inside of the juicy McDouble, buns and all. So, for $2 you've created a huge tasty sandwich. How tasty does that sound? So, if a normal McDouble doesn't quite fill you up, take a chance by combining a McChicken and a McDouble from McDonalds Secret Menu to create your own McGangbang. In our opinion, the McGangBang is the best bang for your buck. When ordering, don't forget to order a big drink to wash it down!

Every chance I got. On one visit, one of the women working there came up behind us and slammed a flyswatter on our table so hard that it rattled every bowl and plate. Scared the crap outta me, and my buddy almost choked on his tea from laughing so hard.

Between 70 - 75...

Shipley's Deluxe. Double Meat/Double Cheese & Fries. Think it was $1.19.

The Old Staple... Whataburger, Fries & a Drink... Less than $1.00

None of the places y'all mentiond were anywhere close to being around.
Seems like I remember a hamburger joint west of the campus theater before the Welborn highway on university that was affectionately referred to as the "**** Hut". I'm sure the building doesn't even exist anymore.
Does that ring a bell?

Im biased, I worked at Fatburger in Bryan in the late 90's. Did deliveries, cooked, whatever. Last one to show up for work had to drive the daytime cook home and stop at the corner store so he could buy 4 40's. Every day.

Was pretty crazy, got my first speeding ticket because the residents in the hood thought I was a drug dealer for driving through constantly and we didn't have signs on the truck.

Always knew when govt assistance checks went out as business for 2 nights was crazy in the ****tiest of trailer parks. More than once I left the truck running and door open. They never tipped, they couldn't do math and we didn't do pro-bono deliveries.

We figure out which addresses had cute chicks or families that tipped Very well and made them the best possible orders. We fought over those deliveries.

100% cash, 100% under the table. Food was good, made well and clean. It was 95% deliveries. Only cops ate in.
