We all had one or two favorite burger hangouts back in our student days. We'd love to hear about your favorite place, the year and why you loved it.

Great food, service, and people are all things we look for in a restaurant experience. Ultimately, it's about the way it makes you feel that makes you want to come back. My name is John Mathews '04 and I am the proud owner of Mr. Hamburger.

Burger of the Month: The Carnivore
Our classic seasoned double patty stacked with smoked chopped brisket, melted Monterey-Cheddar Jack cheese, dressed with spicy bbq sauce, pickles, diced onions and crispy bacon, all built on a toasted Jalapeno - Cheddar bun.

Chicken Oil Company on a Friday afternoon after an outfit run; piling into the back of a pickup and driving thru campus, eating burgers and fries with your favorite beverage, shooting the bull with your buddies and then heading back to campus stuffed with great non Duncan chow!

Cowhop was the best before they moved from Northgate.

Burger Boy came in second.

In my day it was the Chicken Oil Death Burger. Cheese burger (all the fixings) with jalapenos & Tabasco sauce

Cowhop northgate...bacon mushroom with swiss...and a pig out afterward for Sunday football in the tv lounge at Hotard 1st floor. Gone but certainly not forgotten. Or a duddleys survival kit. Both cheap and good.

I like a chicken oil now.

Archie's .39 cent Burgers after leaving Grahams!!!

DSP - Dead Solid Perfect back in 1978-1979.

A little hole in the wall a block or two behind the Chicken. Meat patties cooked inside on a charcoal grill. They were about 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" thick. Cold longnecks to go with them. Perfect before an afternoon football game.

In the '76 to '78 timeframe there was a hole in wall on Northgate named "Dead Solid Perfect" . Otherwise known as DSP. Picnic tables and a grill set up that made massive burgers.

It wasn't that long ago but Stover Boys Burgers was freaking delicious while it existed.

Shipley's Deluxe. Double Meat/Double Cheese & Fries. Think it was $1.19.

The Old Staple... Whataburger, Fries & a Drink... Less than $1.00

None of the places y'all mentiond were anywhere close to being around.

I don't remember the name, but it was across university from Golden Coral. Just a drive thru but so good.

McDonalds at 3a-4a, we went so much we even took the gal flowers on v-day...blew her mind

Ol' Sarge burger at the MSC. Was affordable for a freshman and just kinda stayed there in your belly for about 6 hours. If I remember correctly, it had grilled onions and a sugary BBQ sauce. I couldn't eat half of it today.

McDonald's

I was a huge fan of Stover Boys in '09-'10, but apparently they got non-renewed by the landlord. They later had a concession in Village Foods (who closed) and opened a similar place in Post Oak Mall (which was already turning into a ghost town in 2012). Honorable mention to Burger Boy for being a regular stop when I lived on campus in '05-'07.

Fatburger, Fuddruckers, and Burger House in Bryan(get the Bulgoki burger). Sorry but the classics like Chicken Oil or Koppe Bridge were underwhelming when I was there.
