Certain college football players should just be grandfathered in to play college football as long as they want. Imagine if that Florida/A&M game was Tim Tebow vs Johnny Football? *spooge*

If only we had a good kicker that year...
Or a better coach than Stupid Sumlin.

Great player. College phenom.
But damn, he flamed out in epic fashion....which is just sad and disappointing more than anything else.
Never b/c it was an amazing time to be an Aggie. Why would you want to forget that ride? Sort of a weird take actually.
I remember a time we used to make fun of Texas for this very same thing....

He freelanced a lot more in year 2. And those DCs/players weren't caught by surprise as much in their 2nd time seeing him. I mean....Missouri?

I've been following Aggie football since 1984 and the only year I've ever made every away game was 2013. Good memories with my son being in school there as well.Samson@DCCab said:
For two years, the best player in college football (and one of the greatest ever) was under center for the Aggies.
Yeah, I wonder why Aggies look back at a time where they could watch the best player ever don their colors with fondness. I tried to go to as many road games as I could at the time, as well as attending every home game, because I knew how special that time was.
WGAS how he did in the NFL? This is a college football board where we discuss Aggie football.

He actually played more within the scheme that year, which is why his passing numbers improved so much.
The claim that DCs/players weren't caught by surprise on seeing him a second time is horse****, his numbers were better the second time around in many games, the difference was our defense was a metric ton worse.
You sound like the Bama fans who claimed A&M was going to be in trouble in 2013 because Saban was going to 'figure him out'. Yeah, 'figured him out' to the tune of 628 yards and 42 points surrendered, both massive improvements over 2012.

Okay, now you're just proving you don't know what you're talking about and don't know football.
People didn't play man coverage against A&M when we had JFF, you couldn't, because it meant turning your back to Johnny, and he'd run underneath your coverage while you were chasing a receiver.
Add in the fact that Mike Evans physically abused people who played man coverage on him (Bama tried it in '13), and it was a recipe for disaster.
People played zone, and tried to keep the play in front of them so defenders could keep an eye on Johnny.
You're just speaking in platitudes in an attempt to hide your ignorance here.
I was at the LSU game in Baton Rouge in '13, coverage wasn't a problem against their zone. Johnny's inability to accurately pass the ball because of a hand injury stalled the offense.
Gary Danielson was never so disappointed.hunter2012 said:

While I agree with your general sentiment, I would argue that having a guy on your team win the Heisman is the next best thing to winning a national championship. It means you had a great year and you got to have the best player in the game.TxAg76 said:
Exactly. Still do.
We won the Cotton Bowl that year against a team that thought they'd roll us. Yet we've done that before.
We upset Bama that year, at their place. Good stuff, but not the first time we've knocked off a better team.
In contrast, how bout the close calls against lesser teams that required the near-miracle bail outs?
As fun as that season was, it's not like we won a Natty. But yeah, it was fun. Most we've had in a while, sadly.
People with real "grapes" don't bow their chests out and crow about that kind of season. They appreciate it, and look to the better days ahead where double digit wins is more the norm and not a flash in the pan.
Consider my grapes bigger than yours. I'm looking to the days when beating Bama isn't a shocking upset.
Soon.

I've met a shocking number of players who played college ball and still don't know the game. They know their position, might even be able to teach some techniques for their position, but don't know much more than that.
Nice try at an appeal to authority, though.

The statue should definitely be of him on the run, ideally with his legs running one direction while his torso faces another and his arm stiff arming a defender.dtschm14 said:
Exactly. Dude is a legend and is the greatest player in school history. You could make the argument (and I will, being completely biased) that he's the greatest college player ever. Could've had 2 Heismans but his 2nd season it was the "anybody but Johnny" year. I don't care at all how his NFL career went, JFF will always have a spot in Aggieland and I really hope they give him a statue like JDC has and like RGIII has at Baylor. If I get my way the JFF statue will be him as he almost drops the ball against the "4-man Alabama rush" and they'll find a way to suspend the ball in mid-air. It's an engineering school, they can figure it out.
Is this where your grapes got so big?TxAg76 said:Samson@DCCab said:

I still watch my vhs tape of the rockets winning the 94 nba title so probably not any time soon.
Excellent point. I watch the Billy Bob version of The Alamo every year so I can revel in how bad ass it is that Davy Crockett was the last man standing at the Alamo. That near-upset took place 184 years ago.agz win said:MuckRaker96 said:TxAg76 said:

I still watch World War 2 movies where we win like The Longest day with John Wayne. Gazing back at successful memories have no cut off dates.
