Agreed. Sad he didn't pan out in the NFL, but I don't watch the NFL, nor really care what happens there, and it doesn't take anything away from the greatness that was Johnny's time in maroon and white. You think Nebraska looks down on the Eric Crouch teams? Or tu on the Vince Young teams? He is the best player ever to wear our uniform, and I will always remember those years fondly.

If you're an 18 year old senior in high school, that's half your living memory. How concerned with Texas Aggie football were you in the forth grade?

I was there, modern day version of "David vs Goliath". It will never be repeated, oh we will win against Bama but nobody thought we would except Lee Corso.

As an Aggie, I'm sad that he flamed out, but it's got zero impact of my memories of his time here. Best college player I've ever seen.

Exactly. Dude is a legend and is the greatest player in school history. You could make the argument (and I will, being completely biased) that he's the greatest college player ever. Could've had 2 Heismans but his 2nd season it was the "anybody but Johnny" year. I don't care at all how his NFL career went, JFF will always have a spot in Aggieland and I really hope they give him a statue like JDC has and like RGIII has at Baylor. If I get my way the JFF statue will be him as he almost drops the ball against the "4-man Alabama rush" and they'll find a way to suspend the ball in mid-air. It's an engineering school, they can figure it out.

For two years, the best player in college football (and one of the greatest ever) was under center for the Aggies.

Yeah, I wonder why Aggies look back at a time where they could watch the best player ever don their colors with fondness. I tried to go to as many road games as I could at the time, as well as attending every home game, because I knew how special that time was.

WGAS how he did in the NFL? This is a college football board where we discuss Aggie football.

I live far far away from Aggieland and in those days I would see little boys in Johnny Manziel jerseys walking around! Good times.
