2020 at Kyle then resume with Arkansas as host in 2021 in Arlington and complete the current contract through 2024. Cowboys understood we need the game this year due to limited schedule and Arkansas moved a neutral site game back to Fayetteville for the same reason this year.

Discussions nearing 2024 on moving to home and home format at the conclusion in 2024.

Yes... jerry world has run it's course - time to move on.

I wish both Arkansas and Texas A&M can opt out permanently and never play each other in Jerry World again. Instead, we will have to play there from 2022 to 2024. If both schools proceed with this agreement, I think we will make another trip to Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2025 because we have home games against Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, and South Carolina in odd years.

We are host/home in even years now. There could be a swap after 2024, but they're the scheduled home team in odd years already.

Whatever dumbass decided it would be an awesome idea to do this anyway shouldn't have a job if he still does. I guess the $ on our end must have been pretty good.

Doesnt matter now, but it works like a bowl game. We earn our payout by selling tickets to our fans. The lack of turnout is a good enough reason to move it back to home and home.

Yes that's correct. We will be the "home team" at jerry world in 2022 and 2024. We will offset that with home games against Miami and Notre Dame those years. In 2025 we will have 4 SEC home games out of 8 total and play Notre Dame in South Bend.

FBschedules.com already has 2025 @Fayetteville

I can live with this arrangement...and play 3 more times in Jerryworld. Then adios.

it will give A&M more scheduling freedom going forward.

and with Ole Miss returning to (losing) form...the even-numbered schedules need a boost. Having LSU and Arkansas at home together in even-numbered years is an improvement

1. Money, money, and money
2. Renew SWC rivalry with Arky
3. Presence in Dallas metroplex for recruiting
4. Don't have to go to Fayetteville

Is it possible that Arky chooses to play there for their home games in the series? They might still feel that it benefits them.

as an aisde...the folks on the 40 acres like this news too.

because getting the Arkansas game back to campus makes scheduling the burnt orange slightly easier after 2024.

it was one of the steps to eventually (if ever) getting t.u. back on the schedule.

(not saying it will happen, but A&M is in a better position to decide if they want t.u. at Kyle in even-numbered years (w/LSU & Arkansas) or odd-numbered years (w/Bama and Auburn)

OP reads poorly. Should say "returns to Jerryworld in 2021 with Arkansas as host".

We have 4 more games there before going to Fayetteville.

Can anyone explain what the actual $$$ difference is between playing in Jerryworld and a regular home and home? Explain it to me like I'm 5.

The I'm was a spellmangle error. Changed to "in Arlington".

JerryWorld only made sense as an annual NON Conference game, it sucks as a conference game.

OU Texas was much bigger as a non conference game, now that the rest of Texas schedule is dog poop it is hilarious how bad their home schedule is every year

Best I can tell, this was probably a great idea in 2009 when A&M was in the Big 12 and Arkansas was in the SEC. Plus, Arkansas was pretty strong back then and fan interest on both sides was high.

Then A&M joined the SEC.

And Bobby Petrino (sp.?) happened.

And Arkansas has been terrible.

Now it doesn't look like such a great idea any longer. Kyle Field has an additional 15,000 seats, and we really would like to sell those seats every other year.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Word coming out that Arkansas wants the game back in Arlington in 2021 to continue the series.

Even Arkansas athletic department officials hate living in Arkansas, and grab onto any excuse to leave the state.

We were still in Big 12 at time this neutral site series started. It was right choice at the time. I do agree it's run it's course

Yep, guaranteed game in the Metroplex for them every year, probably helps with Lone Star recruiting

So, let Arky play their home game against us every other year in Arlington and we'll play our home game against them at Kyle Field. That's OK with me.

Ban OP for having a thumbs up on this thread.

I would rather pay $1000 for travel, tickets, lodging, food/drink in Fayetteville than go to AT&T Stadium for free.

I read someplace where each team gets $5million a year to play there. That's better than a home game.

I think the issue is that the inability to have a crowd this year is a force majeure the excuses performance--since A&M happened to be the home team this year, the game goes to Kyle as part of the SEC's 10 game schedule (trying to ensure the everyone, except UGA/UF, has five home and five road games). Because the pandemic excuses performance, we get to move this game without tacking another year on to the agreement. Next year, assuming the pandemic is over, there will be no excuse. So, while Jerry would have been willing to let them host a home game in return, it would have extended the deal to 2025, meaning that the game would have returned to campus at Kyle Field in 2026, instead of at Fayettteville in 2025.

Was actually thumbs upping the clarification after silence for awhile. I think the game needs to return to campus and it is headed that direction decision-wise.

In SPITE of the terrible venue, it's possible that ticket sales will rise IF both teams are ranked. Pig is headed that way, and we sure as HELL think we'll be there continually.
At least for the balance of this Contract Committment.
