Making Moves: 2021 Denton Guyer QB Eli Stowers
This month’s D&D Moving & Storage biggest mover is 2021 Denton Guyer QB Eli Stowers. After making his verbal pledge to Texas A&M last summer, Stowers was one of the biggest stars in DFW throughout the fall — leading the Wildcats to the state finals. Unfortunately, his state title appearance was cut short after suffering a knee injury in the first quarter, but his overall performance in 2019 will catapult him from a top-20 prospect in the state to a top-10 prospect.
Stowers has as high of a ceiling as you could ever want. He’d always been one of the more athletically gifted players in his class in the Metroplex, but he made huge strides as a passer in 2019, which lead to him becoming one of the top quarterback recruits in America. He’s a standout basketball player on the hardwood and one of the top high jumpers in the state, as well.
As a junior, Stowers passed for right at 3,000 yards. He had a 9 to 1 touchdown-to-interception ratio (36 TDs, 4 INTs). He also ran for 1,166 yards and 11 scores. In the end, Stowers garnered second-team all-state honors and was the district co-offensive MVP. His junior highlight tape has not been completed just yet, but it’ll be must-see stuff once it gets posted.
Stowers chose A&M over offers from Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Arkansas, Baylor and plenty others. He was the Aggies’ first verbal pledge in the class of 2021 and looks to be the centerpiece of what Jimbo Fisher is looking to build over the course of the next calendar year.
