Will Mond be "the best QB in the SEC" in 2020?

Mond is consistently ranked as the 4th or 5th best QB in the SEC. He's played well, although a bit inconsistently, and he takes awhile to heat up, especially in big games. When you look at what he's done when the O-line is able to keep his jersey clean, though, he's a really good QB.

The unfortunate early departure of Tua hastened what was already going to happen at the end of this season - Tua wasn't playing in 2020 no matter what. Who's behind him?

Fromm and Burrow will be in the NFL next year. Trask has already graduated.

John Rhyss Plumlee is showing promise, more as a runner than a passer, though.

Who in next year's field at this point looks to be better than Mond - assuming he stays for another year?

Could it be that his confidence at being "the best Quarterback in the SEC" was misplaced only by a single year?

We could always see a transfer come in and take the field with a decent team, but barring that, who's left that's going to be better?

I for one will be glad when LSU returns to form with a modern day Forrest Gump at QB next year.

This is what I pray for.

Bo Nix?

Anything could happen. I'd argue that Nix has had one signature throw this year that came in his first start. Overall, he's looked no better than Mond in his Freshman year.

Have you seen him play? He's not his big brother. Taulia's much more of a runner than a passer - no doubt. Paul Tyson outplayed him last year, and he's a year younger than Taulia. Tyson will be at Bama next year. It's possible he starts, but as a true Freshman, he's going to have growing pains.

I hope he will be but doesn't proclaim himself the best before the season, and lets his performance do the talking

Let's see what Kellen Mond and the rest of the Aggies do in the final two games this season.

If A&M wins at least one against UGA and LSU, I believe he will be the pre-season SEC First Team QB.

What if we...and I'm going out in a limb here...played Georgia, LSU, and our bowl game first...

Yes. He's actually 3rd in most stats with some Fromm mixed in there. He'll be better than Fromm next year and should take another step forward with year 3 in this offense. This, coupled with the much more favorable schedule and he should have a stellar year in 2020. On top of that, running backs will be better, we'll have two all American tight ends, and the o-line can only progress. My money is on Mond. A LOT of aggie records will fall next year...

To answer your question, NO!!

All SEC qb needs a pass efficiency rating above 160 and this year around 200. What has Mond shown in 3 years that makes you think he will accomplish this? I would say whoever qb LSU or Bama will put up great stats and possibly GA, FL and Auburn.

We're not even in the top 25! How can anyone say our QB is leading the pack in the SEC?

If Mond wins these last 2 games then he will be this year's best QB in the SEC
In Jimbo we trust

Mond is already a top 3 to 4 QB in our conference despite what they haters want to try and push out.

In reality Mond had one bad game this year. Clemson..

Otherwsie he has been above average to very good.

It's no coincidence that Mond has played better with a better running game.

If we can get the OL sorted out he has a chance to be spectacular next year.

If someone transferred in would have to sit a year. We're going to have Foster, Calzada, and King and all 3 are Jimbo's guys. I think we are set at QB.

I can't agree more.

If Mond spends the off season working on his long ball touch, I could see him being the best QB in the SEC.
Hell just the threat of completing a pass over 15 years would help open up the running game too.

You forgot the Ole Miss game. And he wasn't All SEC against Bama or SC last week either. He would need 3000 yards and 30 TDs, not 2500 yards and 18 TDs on 328 attempts to have a rating good enough to be in the race. He is #53 is pass rating. Voters use this stat.

Mond had 1 game that was All SEC and that's the Miss St game. Duplicate that game 12 times and he is the best.

On a drastically more talented team, his stats this year are very similar to Mond's freshman year. I think everyone here agrees that watching that A&M offense was pretty rough. Why is Bo going to jump to the best QB in the SEC but most here are sure Mond has reached his ceiling?

Also, Bo is not going to have the monster D-line to keep giving him the ball back next year.

for starters, he will be a redshirt freshman next year, not a true freshman. Secondly, sounds like the kinda guy teams have a hard time defending. Everyone on a 6th grade basketball team could hit bama receivers, and now he run.
