Has the move to Div I helped ACU, UIW and TX State?

Church schools have other issues to deal with. Texas St. historically has had contracting problems for coaches. I don't know what they can do now, but at one time they could only give annual contracts. Not a good thing for coaches. The school has certainly grown wether from going to D1 or not I couldn't tell you. It is a major party school with many great looking girls.

I am surprised that with the growth pains at A&M, the System administration does not have a plan in place to shunt off late, qualified applicants to Tarleton and other campuses for degree programs which all have in common. Engineering, veterinary science and certain other fields are specific strengths of A&M but for education degrees it makes sense to parcel students off to Stephenville, Canyon or Kingsville.

catfan,

Texas State was already Division I (FCS) before it recently moved up to Division I (FBS)

ACU & UIW were formerly Division II before they recently moved up to Division I (FCS)

The rush came from a 15 year attempt to go D1 from their AD and the board of regents are pushing it to get the A&M system brand more visible. West Texas could be next.

Answer your other question... 10k was the largest attended game in their newly renovated stadium.
reddirtgigem,

In the Texas A&M University System there are currently two NCAA Division I football institutions:

Texas A&M Aggies (Division I-FBS): Southeastern Conference (SEC)
Prairie View A&M Panthers (Division I-FCS): Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC)
